First off please accept my apologies for posting with my alt I do have me reasons. I will hopefully soon enough be in a position to start doing some high sec wars / merc activity after moving from null. I have been pretty inactive with the game for about 2 years so lots has probably changed.

What I am looking for is some advice either via PM or on this forum as to how you 'top dogs' best run a sustainable Merc alliance/Corp if you are willing to share that is Big smile , in null its easy as there's lots of isk to be made all around so people have a reason to hang around. I would be looking to start small with a 15-20 man corp but with the ultimate goal of having a 100+ man alliance.

Is it best to self finance as corp CEO?
Is it better to have members pay for the wars they want or charge them a monthly fee?
It would be great if people were to pay not to be shot, but i guess you need a good reputation for that?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Are you confusing mass wardeccing as mercenary work? If you are just looking to wardec high sec corps for profit, first select preferably big and soft ones. Perhaps do some research on them first or if possible, apply with beliveable spy alt. You might do decent profit off the loot and / or ransom after few days of successful war. That's starter.

If you are looking for actual merc work, with people paying you to do some pvp against someone else, that's whole other story.

Having a group working towards the same goal is what really makes a difference. I have spent a good few years in highsec and the merc world from MOAR TEARS -> MARMITE -> VENDETTA all these maybe with the exception of Marmite had all its members pulling in the same direction.

Arrow None of the above asked its members for ISK towards wars (the leadership in all cases managed to get passive ISK for the alliance, which takes alot of work so pro to them in all cases)

Arrow With the exception of Marmite the leadership was fully open with its member base

Arrow The thing that stands out from the others and something that i haven't seen elsewhere is that Vendetta pays its members with alliance income for OPS

So i would say look after your members... the rest should be easy, in theory. Good luck with your journey.

So to sum up try and establish a method of passive ISK so you can keep your members happy with wars and not have to ask them for a penny with the cherry on the cake being actually then pay your memebers with alliance income.. rich members, active members happy members.

Dunno maybe all Merc groups do this these days :)

Pretty much what Griever Takkow said, and I'd say "sustainability" would come more from providing your corp members with enough content than with just isk, if that makes sense.

When I did it I don't think I was ever asked for isk for wars unless I saw something juicy and wanted to dec them myself.

Also, post on your main and throw me a dec!

Well the main thing you need to know is how to reneg on contracts. That seems to be the main trait required these days.

I tell you what. I am USTZ. You catch me in game, convo me on your main and we will talk. I will not speak to alts.
I will explain to you how best things get done. I am not one of the elite mercenary alliances in highsec. Never have claimed to be. But I know a guy, who knows a guy. Shoot me a convo with your main and I will help facilitate your potential success.

Grumpy pants on.
Step one.
Learn to live in a state of constant war.
This means not being afraid of whatever may come from you doing your thing, or speaking your mind. As such, the speak with your main law exists. If you've got the balls to do violence to another for pay, then most certainly you should not shy away from whatever repercussions you might have to endure for speaking your mind in this subforum.
Man, or Woman the hell up. (gender does not signify competence... only competence signifies competence).

Step two.
Mercing seems to come in a few varieties anymore. It's either space denial, structure removal, or killing targets.
The first two are still pretty viable. The last one is now kind of a *****. Depending upon the size of the crew that you are working with it ranges from being a pain in the ass to nigh impossible now that it's no longer really practical to locate and hunt online targets if you're dealing with a large pool of potential victims. With a smaller target pool it's still manageable.

Step three... there is no step three. Just don't let yourself fall into the habit of camping trade pipes and war deccing anything that passes through. That's not really merc work, that's pretty much just roleplaying a catfish and feeding off of whatever shite happens to fall to the bottom of the river.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.
