Nanoribbons... any changes?

Hi

I took some time off EVE from like second half of last year and most of this year.

Last time I was active I was enjoying some wormhole tours, nothing serious, just day trips for casual PvE/PvP if I got connections from my low sec base areas. For PvE I mostly did C3/C4 that could be done solo or with 2~3 pilots casually as that was pretty much the right level of time/contents for us.

Now I'm back and I have been thinking about maybe trying out some WH life in C3 or C4 - nothing too big, just small operations, but I've noticed that Melted Nanoribbons prices have dropped significantly compared to my memory. I remember them being around 4.5~5.0m ISK per ribbon, but now I see them at below 3m per one What?

I generally tried to keep up to date with EVE patches and stuff even when I haven't been too active, but I was just wondering if there have been any changes in WH salvage drops that caused this.

I've never done capital escalations in C5/6, but I did read that there have been some changes with this, but has this caused massive influx of nanoribbons or something?

As I'm returning from a break I'm just wondering if this is due to some market/game meta changes or there have been some changes in WH PvE that increased supply of nanoribbons.

Sorry for a noobish question but any insight would be highly appreciated. Detailed answers are always nice, but I'm also willing to read up & do my study if anyone could give me some good starting pointers.

Thanks!

edit: if the price drop has nothing to do with WH mechanics/game play changes but has to do with market/pvp meta stuff I shall look into those stuff. I just thought I'd ask WH forum first to check.

the escalation changes made farming wormholes less lucrative, a lot less.

but they were at 2,5-3m for a long time before that, i was expecting them to go up once the escalation changes went through but they have stayed pretty stable at just under 3m. maybe once they remove poses they will finally start going up

Thank you Joe for the first answer. I've just seen a thread in general forum talking about how C5/C6 is not lucrative anymore, but that actually makes me puzzled - if it became harder to farm the ribbons, why does the price drop? I'm not a market genius but common sense is that if it's harder to get now/drops less due to changes I would have expected they would get more expensive? :p

And now you mention that "they were at 2.5m~3m for a long time before that" it's even more confusing to me. That sounds like the lowest price I've seen on them in my memory (and I've been around even before WHs existed... not that I always kept track of their prices though). I also don't have personal experience of with these uber boss sleepers in high end WHs, so not fully understanding whether 'less lucrative' is related to less blue loot or less ribbons.

Thanks for your input though and I hope to find some more info. :p

in 5/6 space the blue loot is worth MANY times what ribbons were, even at their peak. Ribbon prices really only affect c3 and lower class payouts.

Thank you Jonn. I wasn't aware that blue loot was the main ISK in high end WHs. So since nothing really changed apart from Capital Escalations I guess nanoribbons price drop are not about PVE mechanics changes in C5/C6.

I will have to recap lots of stuff and check market histories more in detail. It sounds like Nannoribbons crashed due to other market reasons than Capital Escalations changes.

I guess there's always something to learn. :)

Just to give you more info... a typical c5 site (lets say a core garrison, just for this example) will drop 253 mil in blue loot. If you're lucky, you might get say 6-10 nanoribbons, so that's an additional 20-40 mil isk. To be honest, the nanoribbons are kind of like icing on the cake for high class WHs.

Thanks again Jonn. It seems to be a difficult balance issue. I always thought blue loot was a bit strange mechanic, but turning that ISK value into 'resources' like salvages would effect the supply and market prices.
