SP Farming, Too late....?

I have a 3 statup funds that i am doing nothing with. Opened it up for discussion in the corporation, and someone suggested SP farming.

I'm going to assume you know what it is.

My question is, after thinking about the FTP day zero in november, and also assuming that big alliances have been doing the SP farm and have accumulated stacks of injectors waiting for the new blood.

I think it's too late to get into the market. But am curious if anyone here has invested in it, or has considered it, and feel it's just too risky.

I think it's risky because of the potential thousands of injectors being held and farming atm, awaiting the drop to dump them on sell orders and similar to the noctis bpo when that happened, prices were great while they were great, 1-2 weeks, billions of isk was/were made. but then those who were late to the game lost out on the investment due to falling prices.

Are SP injectors something that could sustain a high rise for months? i think so, but i'm not 100% sure i'd want to bet my money on that. I've made too many mistakes like this in the speculative market and going low risk has made me more isk than i can spend on my corporation activitites. So i tend to invest that isk into other markets that produce small but consistant margins.

thoughts?

apologies ahead of time if this has already been raised as a topic , if so i will remove post upon first request.

Things are about to change with the free 5m SP, but that will take some time for people to reach first.

I'd have thought that SP farmers would have recouped the initial cost of having characters in an extractable state by now. Well, some of them at any rate.

I am not skill farmer myself, except couple of alt accounts that already have skills they need, that are earning their sub cost.
Couple of months back, profit from one skill farm toon was about 400mil, today it has "reached" 146mil, and skillfarmers are still actively expanding their farms. They really need to, to keep the profits - but that makes the profits sunk even faster!

In addition to skillfarmers with huge farms, there are a LOT of players like me, who just need their alt accounts to pay for their subscription, who are ready to take a small (or mediocre) loss with skillfarming.

So i expect profits from skillfarming to sunk further and inevitably get to near 0 soon. Only thing that can alter that is if EVE gets a lot of new rich players.
Free to play unfortunalty will get a lot of new poor players!

Anyone are welcome to prove me wrong, if you are willing to come up with some indepth analyzation!

in my experience when games go FTP there's an influx of kids playing. kids with their mommy and daddies money. some rich, some not. My friends son spent over 4,000 USD on mobile game add-ons "by accident". It's a lot more common i bet than we think.

We may have 12 year old flying titans around in no time.

One particular case that you know of, can't in any way, be base for hard conclusion about all the new free to play players.

But eve if only fraction of that will be true, then it would be very good for EVE, as CCP really needs that $ with huge decline of subscription income in last months!

My industry character doesn't need more skills, just a few levels here and there. So to make the account cheaper to PLEX, most of the time I am making injectors. I don't need it to cover the cost of the PLEX completely, though it generally does. Therefore, even if the 30 day injector profit is less than the cost of the PLEX I will still sell the injectors.

I'm probably not the only one.

An interesting aside, it's basically a F2P model that requires the character to have 5M SP and to not need more.

Correction, i miscalculated - profit today for one toon is around 200mil depending if you use selling to buy orders or slow sell it yourself. And it certainly was 400mil+ a couple of months back

Injectors, like most products in Eve are fungible commodities with a low barrier to entry. If profits are high, people will pile into the market and drive the price down. About the only differentiator you have to add some value is location.

I suspect established players have already remapped their skills and are pretty much out of the market unless the price really crashes. New players willing to pay real world cash to catch up will be the main market going forward. The free to play model will bring new players to the game but I doubt they will be using skill injectors unless they enjoy the game enough to subscribe.

I don't believe CCP is experiencing as much difficulty as many in the player community seem to think. Their published balance sheet from 2015 shows a very healthy company and CCP Quant's monthly economic updates show a stable New Eden economy. People may be spending less time logged in but we're contributing as much to the sandbox as we ever have.

Fleet boost changes!

1. Everyone bought extractors. Price up.
2. Everyone extracted skills.
3. Everyone selling injectors. Price down.

Ergo less profit from your SP farm. It will sort itself soon.

There are a lot of players who PLEX an account that doesn't desire further skill training, and who generate SP (and hence injectors) as a waste product.

We have a lot of them in the New Order - people with perfect or near perfect Catalyst skills who keep training just to sell extractors to fund their monthly game access.

These people will, in time, drive this market down lower than it is now.
