I'm confused. You consented to PvP when you hit UNDOCK. What's the problem?

Did you have a permit? Or a scout/webber? Or even an ounce of common sense? This is EvE. Man up or go download WoW.

Consent to PvP

* You consent to PvP when you click "undock".
* You are not safe in 1.0 security space. CONCORD is there to punish, not to protect. Get used to the idea.
* In most cases, the only way to be 100% safe from aggression inside the game is to be docked in a station. Being cloaked in a secret safespot could work too.

CCP please have a look at this because I and a few others might agree that targetting and locking a ship in high sec
should at least punnishable by concord.

If CCP made this change I'd go back to being a mission ninja in a heartbeat - think of the officer fit mission ships I could get concorded just be taunting them into locking me!

I think you overestimate the sympathy of the people on these forums. That is not to say they're all sociopaths, but we've heard this all before, countless times. It seems you just needed to vent. i get that, but not likely the best place to do that. Get a dog and tell him about it. It will make you feel better and you won't end up just being another voice in a sea of people that got their internet spaceship blown up.

For Heaven's sake, get AROUND Uedama... Go through Kubinen instead. Yes it IS Lowsec. It is also SAFER (with a freighter) if you got a scout/webber.

Must we tell them everything?

'If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins onto their clothing. And if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order.'

Yeah, we're like that.

It's not the bumping mechanics that killed you if any of those are true.

Take more responsibility for your own safety to begin with and bumpers aren't a problem in the first place.

That aside, CCP have proposed a change in the bumping mechanics that they will eventually introduce, leaving gank losses of freighters even more the responsibility of lazy players.

Because, you know, bumping isn't just a stupid mechanic. That's like ramming a train with a car, I mean, I am pretty sure it's going to destroy someone's hull.

So are you saying that since it is so unrealistic already we should make it *even more* unrealistic by making ships just pass through each other like ghosts?

Or are you saying you want your ship to die as it crashes into all the other ships every time you undock from a busy station?

Should the collision pod you as well?

I mean that is the realistic way to do it...

People here are helpful, to people who want help.

Calling for a nerf because you died will get yourself made fun of. Saying how you died and asking how you could have prevented it will get you pages upon pages of very helpful advice. Ask how you can improve, don't suggest nerfs.

Might I suggest that you do not fly around with more than 1 bil value in a freighter? This generally works well. If you have more than this, make multiple trips. And you can even hold more just dock up in an NPC station 2 Or 3 jumps from a choke point (Uedama or Niarja) And only carry smaller loads through the dangerous systems.

As for the implants, as stated, spam warp while your ship is being killed and you will warp away. By ejecting instead you have given the gankers a chance to stop killing you and steal the ship. That increases their prophet as they can one sell the freighter. It is better to have your ship shot out from under you than to eject and give it away.

Also, is your industrial location so set in stone that you must pass through Uedama to get to Jita? Perhaps you should look at the maps on Dotlan and find a home that is better suited and does not require such a trip?

And what about using a service like Red Frog. It may cost a little and they may split your load into 3 batches (they like that don't haul more than a bil rule too) But At least it's their freighter at risk, not yours.

As not a LONG time EVE player, but a player that has come and go since 04', I think this is what is wrong with the EVE community and turns people off from the game. It's the response from the community. You are so focused on wanting to tell someone how superior you are because you know how NOT to lose a ship. You are completely losing sight of his gripe. If you will sit there and argue that BUMPING makes sense in any way, well, I'm not sure what to say. The mechanic of bumping is just dumb. Yes, it's been around a long time, it's an integral part of gameplay currently, not just in banking. But just the idea that I am going to ram my ship that is 1/100th the mass into this big ass ship to deviate it's course with 0 repercussions is just dumb.

Other forums, have the same toxic trolls. Have the same dicks in general. But EVE, the community just ***** on new people, the superiority complex is insane. I'm not the first person to say this nor will I be the last. Hell even mainstream articles about this issue have been published.

The community is unfortunately CCP's biggest hurdle on bringing in new subs.

If I win please Evemail me.

This is my point in a nutshell in my previous post. I mean...the guy isn't wrong on the mechanic stupidity scale. Even CCP has said it's an issue they are going to look into. And the community jumps all over someone and makes fun of them.

You still didn't answer my question about which direction you want bumping to head.

It is a serious question. If CCP agreed with you and wanted to change it - would you want to go less realistic or more realistic?

Other games *have* gone with (semi) realistic collision systems...but they have historically had much less player density (often single player for true collision effects).

Elite dangerous is the only MMO I can think of that has done it - with their station guns that just murder you if you clog the undock for too long.... And even there the stations can only handle a few people at a time or you get long docking/undocking waits - and you have to enforce strict docking/undocking windows with *guns*... And that is one of the (many) reasons that death in Elite "dangerous" is a nearly consequence-free inconvenience - not a loss of ship/assets like EVE is.

Also you seem to not want to admit it - but ships in EVE do have mass and momentum - and actual math does go into *how much* 1 ship can bump another. You may argue with the statistics they have assigned to some of the ships - but the values *do* exist and they *are* taken into account.

This is why people bump freighters with MWD machariels and not rookie ships.

Anyway, why do you feel the NEED to go sell in Jita? Use Amarr, Dodixie, Hek, Rens or other local smaller hubs.

Wherever you DON'T need to go through Uedama. Think about all hauling time and stress you will save.

You may net a little less profit, but all considered, you would have made quite a hefty lot of ISK, instead of say, losing these billions in ship and ore.

Edit: GREED was your undoing there, I think.

'If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins onto their clothing. And if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order.'

Yeah, we're like that.
