I ask myself why there are no big package distribution lvl 4 missions in eve .

There could be such nice things like moving 1 mio of freight to another place

or 500 000 m³ with the information that you will need at least one guarding battleship
because of small pirate fleet that wants to get your weapon delivery

or a industrial mission that can onyl be done with some friends to defend the transport

so many ideas there but so sorry that there is nothing like that to be found.

mega Courier contracts with NPC Courier deliveries would be nice too to be true.
even if they give you only 200 000 per gate for 300 000 m ³ maybe,
but it really would make me happy to see a overhaul on thís old system of transport and haul

...Why?

(How big are l4 distribution missions right now anyway? And why should any mission of any kind limit you to a grand total of four ships, no matter what you do?)

Why not just do courier jobs for players?

What?

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

Why not just do courier jobs for players is the point exactly why an overhaul is of a big importance (see other thread)
The answer is: because of collateral.
Collateral is just blocking transport and hauling for players. Because the system itself needs a change.
Who will transport 4 billion worth wares with 4,5 billion collateral on it (or 4 bio) ... No risk for the sender , 100% risk for the hauler.
So why should a package like that get delivery ? AND there even could be a 1 200 million trash and rocks in the package. the hauler cannot look into it before accepting the contract AND PAYING for the right to transport a with a 1 mio isk per gate income :-)

...but without collateral, people will just steal, open and sell every package...

100% risk for the courier because its the courier thats getting paid dingus! The courier gets complete control over which contracts they accept. If anything doesn't pay enough or is too risky they can just not accept.

Do you often wonder how red frog make a good living out of player couriers?

If memory serves they're ridiculously small. 4500 m3 or so; still fits in a T1 bestower.

Pretty much like level IV security missions designed around a Thrasher.

Actually it goes up to 9000 m³ or something. And there is a lv. 4 storyline distribution mission you can get where you have to transport something like 20-40k m³. (I don't remember if it was 20 or 40k, it's been a while since I did distribution-missions.)

Edit:

Wait, it must have been 40k m³, I distinctly remember not even my 30k m³ - hauler was able to haul everything in one go.

but even 40km fits inside a t1 hauler

Because of the reward.

If you are risking that much collateral, only do it if the reward is sufficient to justify it.

Why not make these L5 distribution missions? Much bigger boxes for about the same rewards as a L4 security mission (with 4-8k LP). I like the idea to have people to fleet up for these, either because pirates will attack you or the time is too short to finish it with bonus.
We have the option for l5 missions, but there are very few L5 agents.
