1) IF I have any programs that are utilizing sound ... which communicates with my M-Audio ProFire 610 studio unit ... and I dare load up the EVE Launcher, my computer crashes with fatal errors

2) This is becoming insane. And no, I cannot switch to 48 kHz sound when all my usual standard programs use the native 44.1 kHz, effectively locking my device into that mode.

3) What's more interesting is, when EVE is playing, my M-Audio device says EVE locks itself into 44.1 kHz audio. So.... it even knows it should (or could) be operating at that frequency - because changing it to 48 only gets forced back to 44.1 by EVE's Launcher ITSELF!

4) A mode which, one would think CCP need not be reminded, has always handled and processed sound for every EVE version I've ever used since signing up during "Trinity" in February 2008 while using the M-Audio ProFire 610 at 44.1 kHz.

1 & 3) Have you tried booting Eve directly, without the launcher? It should be in your "eve directory / Sharedcache / tq / bin" or something the like. Definitely the exefile.exe in the /bin directory of the tq folder (not sisi, important).
If you start it through that, you don't need the launcher, as long as there is no patch going on. I do not suggest you to play that way, since it stores all settings elsewhere and you would have to copy all the settings to that new location in your system folder. I'm only curious if this allows you the output of sound, so the issue can be further narrowed down. Similar, if you remove the exclusive mode from the audio interface from Windows mixer, if that changes something as well.

2) Your entire rig is basically labelled "2008". At that time, it was a non-issue to have hardware scale up to 96Khz and 192Khz with 24bits easily. My Cubase SX from 2001 even makes projects with 32bits floating point. So I'd like to ask you, which usual standard programs you are using which have to default to the required 44khz and are unable to port or being unable to be translated by your audio interface? Because that sounds fairly ancient and I'm surprised they would even run under Windows 7 64bit, compatibility mode notwithstanding.

4) Don't worry, I don't want to paint it like it's your fault. We all know, including CCP, it's an issue on their end. I'm only asking these specific questions like that so you can maybe update your bug report with it, or someone reads up here too.

I guess your firewire connection is native, based on the specs of your mainboard, so you probably don't have a dedicated expansion card for that bus. If you had, it would be important to note.
You apparently got extremely lucky with that Profire from M-Audio Big smile or you had programs nice enough working with it properly. The driver issues of that brand and model are beyond painful.

I'm having launcher issues. Says "CCP exefile stopped working" and it closes the game out. I've tried repairing. Uninstalling and reinstalling, even reinstalled windows and nothing is working. No matter what I do, I get the CCP exefile BS. CCP, what do?

Hi!

I'm having the problem with audio, too.
The workaround, deactivating all other sound devices, didn't work for me. Neither did changing the samplerate to 48kHz.
Filed a bug report also.

Specs:
OS: Win7 Professional 64bit
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V LX
Soundcard: Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 USB (Driver 2.5.2)

Hope the Devs will find a global solution soon.

Did you change it in windows or in asus/xonar/cm control panel ? You need to do so in the former.

Sorry, I'm stupid. Did it the other way around. Now, the right way, the higher samplerate-workaround works for me.

Thanks Soltys for pointing it out.

Hello EVE Audio Enthusiasts!

We will be putting a fix for the Windows 7 64-bit/discrete sound card exclusive audio issue on to Singularity later this week.

The audio team would really appreciate if anyone who experienced the issue would hop on the test server and give this build a whirl. Both positive and negative feedback on the results are welcome in this thread.

Provided all goes according to plan (and no unforeseen edge cases arise in the next week), we expect to be pushing this fix onto the subsequent TQ release.

Thanks for reminding me to read back:) Tried the workaround but no dice, so I've unhappily resigned myself to not having any other audio possible while Eve is running. Hope you fix this sooner than later.

Hey Stanley Ray and Steluna de Chasteux!

You can read this a little further back in this very thread, but manually disabling all other sound devices through the Sound menu in the Windows Control Panel (leaving the discrete card selected as the default device) should provide a temporary workaround until we can patch with a better solution in client.

The audio team is on this, and we're trying to make sure we don't break anything else when we put out a fix.

And now i also see the value of reading forward! Set my no-name onboard sound device to 48khz and now I have non-Eve sounds back during play. Woot! Feeling the love, baby, ohh yeah:)

CCP Antiquarian wrote:
Investigation bears fruit!

The audio issue is due to the Asus card trying to run at a sample rate not supported by EVE.

Setting the Asus device to run at 48khz at any bit depth will correct the issue.

This problem is constrained exclusively to Windows 7 64-bit.

So where is the base functionality of creating corp-contracts?

Explanation: normally if you put something in your corp-hangar, then you can right click and select "create contract" - This feature is currently missing.

Workaround:
right click an item in your normal hangar -> create contract, then select "on behalf of 'corp name' wallet...."
then select the proper items from the corp-hangar
continue normally with description, price, etc..

-> please give that menu for corp-hangars back/introduce it again

Keep up the good work.
Thank you

Best regards
Mayce

p.s.: want to buy multi contract analog to multifit (awesome thing btw, but please include T3s..)

My gods! After 4 weeks of silence, that TEST SERVER PATCH ACTUALLY WORKS!
It works beautifully with multiple clients opened as well as audio from external programs running as well.

I am, of course the odd one with no sound card, but instead an M-Audio ProFire 610 sound unit.
I hope this works for those other folks.

Looking forward to the patch onto Tranquility!

Again, my specs:
Windows 7 Professional, SP1 (64-bit)
M-Audio ProFire 610 studio unit connected via IEEE 1394 Bus
M-Audio Driver version: 5.10.0.5084 (most current for Win7Pro64)

Question for you, CCP Antiquarian:
When will that audio fix patch on Singularity be applied to Tranquility?
It has now been exactly 4 weeks since the Aug 9 patch, and I still cannot play (sans "freeze-crashing" or "playing deaf").

So, the audio problem seems to be fixed now ...

... can we please get an update on the cloud fps problems and DX11? I have to play with all effects off since the patch (not a "potato" machine, all 60 fps if clouds are not present with medium shaders) ...
