High sec combat sites and escalations.

Hello,

Sorry if this is a basic question, but if I'm running combat sites in high sec, what are some good ships to consider flying? I've got pretty crappy skills, so I mostly just fly Amarr ships. Recently I just ran a 4/10 site in this frigate.

[Retribution, Guns Blazing]
Small Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Adaptive Nano Plating II

Cap Recharger II
5MN Microwarpdrive II

Dual Light Pulse Laser II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II
Dual Light Pulse Laser II

Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
Small Energy Burst Aerator I

Scorch S x24
Conflagration S x20

Thing is it took me forever and a day to clear the site. Is it typically recommended that players fly larger ships for high sec combat sites, or do I just need to get good at clearing these in a frigate?

That site will let you throw a battlecruiser at it.

It won't let a battlecruiser in a 3/10, so maybe use a cruiser?

Acceleration Gates to DED Complexes will only allow access to certain size and types of ships. This is the general rule :

DED Complexes : Max Ship Allowed
1/10 = Frigate
2/10 = Destroyer
3/10 = Cruiser (T3 Cruisers Restricted)
4/10 = Battle Cruiser (T3 Cruisers Restricted)
5/10 = Battle Ship
6/10 and up = No Restriction

The only way to know exactly what ship size and type is allowed - access the gate while in your pod. I know that sounds crazy and it's not something I encourage others to do.

Let me explain, years ago after CCP launched Apocrypha (exploration expansion), it was tough to know what ship was allowed to access the various sites. I use to warp to the Acceleration Gate leading into the site, eject from my ship (will get pop up message saying modules will go offline) and while in my pod I'd access the Gate. Pods are not allowed to access Acceleration Gates so a pop up message would appear with a list of ships allowed for access.

I'd quickly make note of the largest ship allowed and then get back into my ship asap. I never did check if a Shuttle would get the same results, I figured it would be a hassle and take too much time. It's been quite a while since I've checked the Acceleration Gate ship list, not sure about the new ships CCP has recently added to the game.

Anyway, good luck with the exploration.

I really don't see the relationship of "crappy skills, so I fly Amarr." Hopefully you're just implying that you're sticking with one race until you get your skills up.

Well, you could fly a bigger ship, but then you will take damage faster. So if you want to fly a dessy, cruiser, or BC, you will need your support skills higher.

Mainly, as a frigate, you've been speed tanking. So you'll need to be ready for a different style of tanking before moving up. You could also ignore the 4/10s and stick with 3/10s if you feel they are doable in your time frame. But yea, you could also do level 4 missions in a frigate, with the same problems you're having. That's generally why we don't recommend it, unless the challenge is more fun. Always follow the fun. Don't sweat the money, especially if you fly frigates.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Train for a t3 destroyer next. Jackdaw and confessor are both great ships and can clear a 4/10 out in no time

Confirming level 4 missions are challenging in a frigate or destroyer, huge fun if there's a few of you running together though.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Couldn't you just activate the gate and hit CTRL+Space to cancel warp?

But he wanted the list of ships that could enter, he only gets that if he attempts to enter in a ship (or Pod) that isn't allowed.
