I just wanted to share with everyone my new tutorial video on how to hack a can!

I'm very happy with it.

Thank you for sharing. I just started this game yesterday. I purchased an exploration pack with Heron. This video is very helpful.
Are the more expensive data scanners worth it? or can you use the tech I with high skills and get the same results?

Watched this yesterday or the day before.

Very well done. Any new explorer will learn a lot from this video. I never knew what the numbers represented as you cleared nodes, thanks. Cheers!

I do a lot of exploration sites. This is a good tutorial video. Well done!

My personal best was 350 mil out of a single site. Most of that was a BPC that i sold on contracts.

Should also note how well sites pay depend on faction. Salvage from some factions pays far better than salvage from other factions. CCP really needs to give exploration some love.

One of my down-the-road plans (a month or two) is to develop a formal loot table for the explo sites. I'll probably end up asking for help on that from others to increase the sample size. It's nothing I've ever seen before.

I don't trust hearsay, and I don't trust feelings. Yes, it certainly feels like Sansha sites are the best, and Guristas aren't far behind... But before I go quoting that information as a learned instructor I want a reasonable certainty on it.

Thanks for all the feedback, all!

I am constantly frustrated by mediocre-to-poor tutorials and their very poor ability to organize and impart the relevant information. So I decided to do something about it.

If you mean the Relic II and the Data II -- you can only use those once you have your relevant skill to 5; But they're awesome. They remove most nuance necessary, and you stop needing to be careful, really. They're super worth it when you can use them.

If you mean the Zeugma and/or whatever the other one is (that fit a Data and Relic into one module); They provide you no bonus except for taking up one less middle slot on your ship. Most people don't think this is worth it given their very high cost. I don't use them yet either. I can't say how correct either opinion is, but if you ever expect to lose your ship I wouldn't use them. I mainly fly an Astero while exploring. The T3 explorers might feel differently.

The faction scanners also only allow 1 utility subsystem stored at 1 time as opposed to 3 with the tech 2 variations and also have 10 less coherence

I meant the Purloined Sansha Data Analyzer that was an option in the trade hub I was docked at. I was looking at what variations of Data Analyzer I was available and if I met requirements. It seemed to offer better tradeoffs for someone with newer skills and a similar price.

The thing you may have missed (and I don't blame you, CCP doesn't make this easy sometimes) is that that module can only be fit to a single ship... That can only fit that module... And no others. It's STUPENDOUS for hacking data sites... If you have another account scanning them down... And don't need to fight in it ever...

I couldn't recommend it. They're limited edition, only so many in the game ever. And dirt cheap. So -- I figure most players agree that the negatives outweigh the benefits.

I had a question for you. Since I fly a squishy Heron, I avoid the relic sites with defenders.
Does Null have Pirate sites like some lower class WH have? example: Blood Raider Crystal Quarry
Safe places from npc hostiles to enter.

Yes. The Null exploration sites are only ever the faction pirate sites corresponding to the occupying faction there.

Normal NPC faction sites do not have rats in them. Ghost sites do. Ghost sites are a bit harder to scan down and have "covert" in the name. The rats in them are nasty and they will make the cans explode, which will damage you. They spawn a random amount of time after you enter site.

I wish I had read this thread a week ago. I'm now stuck with a Perloined Data Analyzer with no ship with which to fit it.

Someday when I'm rolling in ISK I'll buy the Echelon to use it I guess.

Are the data sites more profitable than relic hunts?

Thanks for sharing this Alebrelle. As a new explorer I found it very helpful.
