Drone set for a WH Pilgrim

Howdy,

I'll soon be able to fly in a pilgrim (waiting for Drone Interfacing V) and I was wondering which set of drones I should get. The PvP activity I'm looking for (WH, mostly solo or in a 2~3 man gang, without any alt) involves being far away from any station for an undefined time so the choice of which drones I'll take is critical.

I know I'll take at least two sets of Warriors II. Which ECM drones do you prefer to bring with you? EC-300 or EC-600? I've never PvP'd in a drone boat before. I know that Hammerheads have the best dps amongst medium drones but I often see people who prefers valks for their speed. However if I take only matar drones I'll be limited to exp damage type.

I'd really like to hear your opinion guys, especially from those who have an experience with this ship.

Well, you'll be stuck with thermal damage if you go with hammies as opposed to be stuck with explosive if you go with valks... Big smileThat's the silly nature of drones. BTW, 'Integrated' drones shoots TWO damage type. These will probably turn out to be very expensive to field very quickly but I digress.

For real, tho. You can't really go wrong with Hammerheads. Your pilgrim will most like be stuck within medium neuts range (12 km or less), which mean speedy drones won't be all that important.

It knows what you think.

Decide what targets you'll go after first. Then fit accordingly.

Take an Armour repair drone even if it means dropping a warrior 2 from your second set, that way you can repair any damage your drones might take

No Worries

wh pilgrim can be very annoying without proper logistic chain.. regardless of drone type some will get destroyed you need to replace

but even more annoying imo is cap boosters. you will run out very fast without someone to carry/go get. its true you can fly the cap battery fit but it is much more vulnerable

Many thanks for your input guys. Targets will mainly be pilots doing sleepers in C1/C2 first.
I've got another question about the pilgrim, I'm hesitating between:
- web + 2 td
- cap booster + 2 td
- cap booster + td + web

I like the idea to have a web because the pilgrim is a slow boat and I don't want my target to get away from me (I don't use faction scram, so its range is very limited) but I've made some friendly squirmishes and the double td negates virtually 100% of the damages received. The cap booster is problematic too, as precised by cyka776. It is very useful for cap warfare but it involves having someone to carry charges and I play without any alt.

Its a good question re tracks.

My alt flies a Pilgrim so I arranged a little fight between him and Othran - who was in a cane. I was quite surprised to find that Othran had very little difficulty hitting an afterburning Pilgrim running one track+script at under 5km. Now that's probably an extreme situation given Othran is maxed out on turrets and the cane had two TE2s, but even so it was 425mm ACs, not 220s.

Two tracks+ script and Othran just couldn't hit him, meaning the cane is going to die.

One track and he can hit the Pilgrim, meaning neither are likely to die - Pilgrim will just warp off once the damage is too much.

if i am not too worried of camps i often fit

ab - scram - web - med cap boost - td

web will help your relative velocity to target and increase their need to track if flown correctly

also the dual prop fit works decent and runs camps easier

mwd - ab - scram - td - cap boost

as i mentioned you can also fit a cap battery but you must be much more careful what you engage

if they are cap boosted themselves they will outlast your cap and likely force you to disengage

if they are a cap boosted pvp fit they will likely kill you

to your specific question i would say td and web are better than 2 td since web helps in multiple roles (including same role as td)

and i wouldnt fly a pilgrim without some type of cap support (prefer cap boost--cap battery at least)
