Brand new to PvP. Any other solo PvP ships/fits would be great as well.

If you're brand new to PvP start in a frigate. Bigger is not always better.

Your first few PvP outings are going to be painful and full of mistakes. Start with an executioner.

Fair enough. I'm using the following fit right now;
[Executioner, Solo PvP low-sec]
Small Focused Pulse Laser II
Small Focused Pulse Laser II
Small Focused Pulse Laser II

1MN Afterburner II
Warp Scrambler II
Stasis Webifier II

Damage Control II
200mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer

Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Ancillary Current Router I

Scorch S x3
Conflagration S x3
Imperial Navy Multifrequency S x3
Nanite Repair Paste x75

It's pretty expensive though. Would a t1 fit still be viable for PvP?
Are there any other frigates that are a good choice for a PvP newb?

I'd recommend the Beam Tormentor. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a computer right now, so I can't give you a fit. You could always browse the losses on my killboard for it tho.

Edit: SAAr was pretty expensive last time I played, that's something you'll have to live with if you fly armour frigates.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm not particular about what I fly, I just chose the Omen because it seems like a decent solo PvP option.

Cruisers are a bit more prone to getting blobbed in lowsec. Overall, you'd get the most engagements with a frigate. If you want to graduate, a T3D is an excellent choice. Both in training time needed, as your weapon skills are the same between the two classes, and in terms of what you could accomplish with them.

What would be considered the best t3d to train for at this time? I was thinking Svipul but most of the information I find from Google is dated before the nerf last year.

The Svipul is still the top tired T3D, However Triple MASB Jackdaw are hella fun.

Hecate will tear up any frigate they come across, but they can't really engage anything else as medium and certain large guns hulls can track them.

The Fessor can be used and fitted with the same idea as a Noman and Slicer. A Kiting using Scorch and a single rep. Also I've seen someone cant remember where using a MSE confessor to good effect.

Keep in mind that flying ships percieved as better makes people dodge you.

With that said, the Svipul is still the 'best' one out of the bunch.

I'm quite partial to the Confessor myself, it has good mobility and range on grid. I also make use of the probe launcher fitting bonus to Visit Unsuspecting Gallentean Farmers In Their Safespots.

Edit: I generally prefer the Beam Confessor, but otherwise the idea is the same as in Valkin's post.

The Hecate I really don't like. Blaster fits are at risk from some T1 Frigates, T1 destroyers and Assault Frigates.

The Jackdaw is considered one of the weaker T3Ds. That just means that people are more likely to go in over their heads when fighting you. The large amount of midslots and reload speed are excellent tools for the soloer. You could also consider it the exact opposite of the Confessor in terms of playstyle.

As a final point, the overheat bonus on the hulls is often overlooked, but it allows you to juice out your modules that much longer. It allows you a bit more wiggling room when soloing.

The best part about the Jackdaw is that it can when you add high-grades/links/Blue Pill gets a hilariously strong active tank, it's probably the most defensive T3D out there.

Just a note on the triple asb jackdaw, just because EFT says you can tank 1k dps does not necessarily mean you can. Active repping fits also require you to have enough buffer to survive a rep cycle.

Yeah, of course. That goes with anything active repped though. A single wrecking shot from anything large and lucky enough to get it will sorta ruin your day. But I am correct it being the most defense oriented T3D out there yeah?

That would be correct, you can squeeze almost 30k ehp out of one

This is not at all the general Nomen fit and it isn't kitey. No nanos and resist rigs that severely limit your speed. Here's the proper fit:

[Omen Navy Issue, Kite]

Medium Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Damage Control II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

50MN Cold-Gas Enduring Microwarpdrive
Warp Disruptor II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Navy Cap Booster 800

Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Small Gremlin Compact Energy Neutralizer

Medium Energy Locus Coordinator II
Medium Energy Locus Coordinator II
Medium Ancillary Current Router I

Warrior II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

Some people run a second nano over the DCU but I like the DCU, that's up to personal preference.

You can port a similar fit to a regular Omen for practice, it's pretty solid as well and alot cheaper. Fit like this:

[Omen, PvP Kite]

Medium Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

50MN Cold-Gas Enduring Microwarpdrive
Warp Disruptor II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Navy Cap Booster 800

Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M

Medium Energy Locus Coordinator II
Medium Energy Locus Coordinator II
Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Warrior II x5
Warrior II x3

and finally as a bonus, if you want a cool brawl fit you can try the bromen:

[Omen, PvP Quad Light]

1600mm Steel Plates II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

10MN Afterburner II
Warp Scrambler II
X5 Enduring Stasis Webifier

Quad Light Beam Laser II, Gleam M
Quad Light Beam Laser II, Gleam M
Quad Light Beam Laser II, Gleam M
Quad Light Beam Laser II, Gleam M
Quad Light Beam Laser II, Gleam M

Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I

Hammerhead II x3
Hobgoblin II x2

700 overheated dps and a solid armor tank, pretty awesome brawler. Very susceptible to AB frigs though as the tracking on the guns is terrible.
