CREST Wars: Ally Expiration and Cache Timer

There seems to be no method of detecting if an ally has expired from a long running war. Is this the case or am I am missing some type of trick?

In addition the 1 day cache timer for is a bit excessive since there is the potential for wars to be instantly live leaving applications in the dark for up to 24 hours on the new wars. Could this be changed to something shorter?
