I'm not even going to argue with most of what you said.
Not because I don't disagree with you, but I've had the discussion before and I don't care enough to have it again - so whatever.
Keep living in your happy little bubble.

So just 1 question:

How/When did this idea of taking down POSes/etc become popularized? Was it just copying people in sov space who got evicted, or what?

Because I have to tell you - nobody did this until the past...I dunno...Year or so? In high sec...

And man - whoever started this trend - I owe them a couple of dozen beers.
I've made more *billions* of isk off of just stealing POS towers that idiots tried to take down than off of faction loot this past year...
So whoever started it - if you are out there - My Wallet thanks you o7

If you have that much isk ...
... and leave soon anyway ...
... for a longer period ...
... i mean, it would just rot anyway, right?

You'd have no use for most when you come back, right?

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

No, you can't have my stuff....I'm too much an EVE player to be 100% sure I'm gone forever and give it all away P

If it rots, it rots Bear

edit: I'll be honest I *have* gone back and forth on the idea of consolidating down to 1 active account with my 3 favourite characters and converting the rest of my alts into SP Farms so I can make a couple billion per month profit *and* play for free...

But of course it means being a complete hypocrite on my stance regarding injectors P

Would just Let me ride out the rest of EVE (for the foreseeable future anyway) without spending an isk or *needing* to do anything...

But honestly w/ how busy RL is etc I think I could *at least* use a break from EVE - even if I bring myself to do that...

We'll see I guess.

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

I've had a character "embedded" with a carebear corporation for a little while now. Not as a spy, or anything - more like Jane Goodall among the apes.

I do try to help a bit, but it is mostly wasted effort.

They catch the occasional war from the mass-dec alliances. They're okay at dealing with those, for the most part, and there's little practical reason to "fight back" in those cases, as it doesn't really hinder operations. The occasional numpty gets popped in a hub or on a pipe because he doesn't listen to instructions, doesn't use instas, etc.

More recently, they caught a dec from a small corp made up of one or two people who appear to have failed at literally every aspect of Eve more strenuous than popping mining barges.

This is a little different, as it was immediately obvious that they would probably come after the miners. So, I explained everything to our carebears: Who the neutral spies are, what ships he would be flying, what ships they should be flying, what they should do if they see the spy in local, what they should do if they see him in local, etc.

One of them immediately scoffed because it was a brand new corp with only two people in it, and we have so many. His Mackinaw was the first loss.

Four more followed before anyone was convinced they had to change anything, and most of them would rather not undock than make even the slightest adjustment to their playstyle, especially if it means they have to pay attention instead of watching Pornhub while mining.

This isn't just a matter of new players, either. Many of these are 2008-2009 characters. In fact, the legitimately new players have, so far, been far more amenable to adjusting to defend themselves, while the older players who believe they know better are impressively immune to advice.

Literally half an hour ago, someone else commented in corp chat that the opposing corp "...is only days old, and only has two members - they must be nuts." It's hard to build a bridge that can span that large of a disconnect from reality. We're all logged into the same server, but we're not playing the same game.
