Socket close problem

Ok so ive been playing EvE for a few days (about two) and i really loved it. I was up at night playing when suddenly i got the message ''Socket Closed" and had to close the game. I thought this was some kind of server maintenance or something so i just decided to go sleep. The next day i logged in normally but after a few minutes again i got the message and had to close, and that keeps happening til; now.

After some reading i realized it was some kind of internet problem. I am really confused why this is happening, because the game worked perfectly for 2 days then just suddenly this happened, i didn't change anything with my internet and i do not think there was some kind of update or anything before it.

im not sure how the thought came to me , but i use cable for internet connected to my router. I disabled the cable internet and used wireless instead and it worked.... i can play EvE without getting the error. But when playing with wireless i realised that sometimes its as if there is massive lag. Like i would be mining and not get anything for a few mins then all of a sudden it all comes at once, or when warping i just lag there for a bit with nothing showing on the map thingy ( the place where u see whats in your surrounding and u click to where u wanna go) im not sure what its called. Then same as with the ores it all comes back. Its like a lagspike. Im not sure if this is because i have weak connection with my router or because of the same issue thats causing the socket closed error. When using the cable i never experienced this lagspike.

Also when i do the basic network diagnostics form the eve launcher i read sometiems it sais "request timed out" and in some of the results i have 50% packet loss or 25% packer loss and in some its 0. im not sure if its normal but i dont think packet loss sounds good.

So im confused what can i do to fully fix this problem?

Any packet loss is bad, but at 25-50% I'm surprised your connection is usable. Is that on the wired connection through your cable router or was that when you were using the wireless?

A socket is essentially just a an IP address and port combination. There are a few things that can cause a socket close, but the two primary cases are firewalls and connection timeouts. One thing you may want try is simply bypassing the router and running the cable directly from your cable modem to your Eve computer instead.

i just realised this isnt only eve , all other games im having are suddenly disconnecting at time. I cant log in on LoL , when searching for a game in Dota 2 steam goes offline , rainbow six siege i get random disconnects and so on. What could be the reason? Like EvE is working now for about 5-10 mins or even less then i get socket close error.

I'd say you need to talk to your ISP and tell them about your random disconnects. sounds like shite internet is at the heart of your issues.

If you haven't yet, try resetting the router (turn off, wait a bit, turn on).

I would recommend it's time to buy a new modem / router, that's how they start to fail. I had the same issue a few years back and a new router fixed that problem.

It's a common problem if you use a wireless card to connect to your router
