Strip miner 2 crystals or not

So I can use tech two strip miners but can't use any crystals can you use the tech 2 by them selves if so does it increase the mining yeld as opposed to the regular tech one ones.

Never use T2 strips without crystals. Without crystals, they harvest less than T1.

In hisec, where asteroids are "small", I use T1 strips. These asteroids don't last long enough to bother with crystals, and frequent partial cycles (small asteroids) lead to rapid crystal burn-out.

In mining anomalies, where asteroids are huge, I use T2 strips + crystals.

Your best option is to use the T2 Strip Miners with T1 crystals. Purchase a set of BPO for the crystals you want to use and just make the crystals yourself from the noxium you mine. The cost of and time involved in invention or purchase of T2 crystals does not justify the small increased yield unless you are mining for several hours per day everyday. I find that a T1 crystal setup in a Proc with T2 Strip Miners provides good enough yield for me when I choose to be a casual carebear.

In order to use T2 crystals with T2 strip miners you need the refining level of the ore to be mined at level IV or above, along with reprocessing efficency to level IV and metalluagy at level III for some of the more rarer ores.

I haven't tries this in a long time, but you used to be able to recover the Hypersynaptic Fibers from a T2 crystal, if you reprocessed it before it reached 100% damage.

Crystals have 1 HP and take 0.025 HP damage randomly .. translation: 40 damage events, so change crystals at or before 39 / 40 = 97.5% damage.

You recover some, but not enough to make a new crystal. If people are OCD about it it will reduce the amount of fibers they need to import / buy, but honestly crystals are cheap enough that its not worth the effort.
