/pick, /coinflip, /dices for even more games in chats, please! :D

Hi, Hello and welcome.


Back in the early years of the internet i was a frequent user of the national radio รถ3's chatroom.
It was irc based and just like EVE offered a /me. Also /j,/l, /w, etc etc.



We of course don't need these...


... but we need /dices with one variable argument! :D
Example: "/dices 5" displays "/me threw five dices: 2,1,6,1,3,3".


The same would work with cards:
Example: "/cards 1" displays "/me pulled an ace."

A "/shuffle x" for random chains of numbers would be awesome too!
The command "/pick" could pick a random pilot in local!
Someone suggested /coinflip, form the most binary of all decisions!


What the point would be?

People who only rely on chatrooms - which are too often too silent - have something to do.
Strangers in local could ask others for a game.
People can run legit dice and card games with others, even for money!

From small scale lotteries to the young upstarter wanting to make a quick buck, that's all in these few commands.

I like this.

It would be great if / commands were made available on TQ focused on player interaction.

Not a single negative side to this suggestion and since / commands already exist for the devs, I would hope they could be expanded and include commands for players like on SiSi, but with game/interaction focused commands like you propose.

That's a really neat idea.

Not sure if it would take a lot of dev time. But it would create some more server load on the Jita node for sure :P

Yes, does't look like it would take up much dev time at all, adds more interaction between players, and doesn't need to be based on assumptions that the player base can exploit.

I like the idea of tackling a miner in low sec, and getting them to flip a coin to decide whether they escape or blow up.

In your mind, yes, but we're not there yet.

Please remember that a line thrown with dices/etc ...
... is pretty much equivalent to writing a line in chat.

The only real difference is that the numbers in that line would come from a trustworthy source.

So the amount of dev-time that would be needed is pretty much a minimum.

They could even do it purely locally on the client ...
... but I'm not sure if memory altering cheaters would matter here.

None of you have any idea how easy or how hard this would be to implement since none of you have seen the code. No I am not saying would be easy or that it would be hard I am simply pointing out that we have no way of knowing how difficult it would be.

So we get these for cards and dice when and where does it stop?
New players and the simple fact that they would not know what these were is another area of concern.
How to you phrase these auto things so as not to offend people from various cultures? Yes I know we may do that now but in a very significant way it is different because we the players are the ones guilty of it. If CCP put these into the game then they are the ones who risk offending a segment of the player base.
