Me and my buddy are trying to play on the same network. Getting Socket DC. Any way to make the game use a different port?

Depends what the cause of your socket close is.

A fix that worked for me (and others) is.

Open the chat channels English help and Russian help.

The constant talk within those channels ensures the server is always communicating with your eve client and preventing the desync and socket close.

Iirc there was once a way switch ports, but you have to google it yourself. :P

I5 could be a simple timeout-issue solvable by having a webpage open that continually refreshes.

I recall having such time-outs and every time i loaded a webpage it vanished.

Change the port EvE uses on ONE of the computers. This is doable with command lines potentially like with Steam, or otherwise like the following clip i just cut from another thread about ports :)

"For EvE the only other port that you can connect to the server with is 3724 instead of the normal 26000 port.

In order to use port 3724, it will be necessary to open your settings folder.

Press Windows Key + R and paste the following line into the Run window.

Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
Windows Vista/Windows 7: %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\

There you will find a folder that is named 'c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility' (asuming you've installed EVE in the default location), and under there you can find folder named 'Settings'.

In the Settings folder locate the prefs.ini file and double click on the file. This should open the file in notepad by default. Once the file is open, locate the line 'port=26000' and change it to 'port=3724'. Save the file and start the client again and see if you're able to connect."

It's an old thread so not sure about Win10.

Well for whatever reason me and my buddy tried it the next day after giving up and it decided to work just fine. Idk if my router decided to actually make UPnP work for once or what but it seemed to "fix" itself.

Nice work around though Keno. Had it not fixed itself I would of been all over that.

Thanks guys!
