PVE or PVP? Fleet or solo? Missions or anomalies? Wormholes or k-space?

If you mean PVP, then almost always heavy missiles. If you mean pve, then it depends on application. If you can get by on a smaller tank then you can devote more to application which makes cruise missiles better. If you need a fairly substantial tank, then your application will have issues.

Mostly pve mission lv4, still like doing them. Perfect after work to log in and do a few missions. Working on a second char that will be rattlesnake to I think. Plan is maybe do some wh or level 5 missions, heard that will work fine with 2 rattle pilots.

While a Rattlesnake is a versatile ship, I think your pve progression will lead you some day to DED complexes. There complexes that aren't rated by the DED but those aren't any easier and sometime harder than DED complexes.

A DED 5/10 will sometimes be equal to a mix of a level 4 and 5 mission and the higher the number, the harder it gets.

I would recommend flying something a little smaller in any DED 10/10 since they use capital weapons to fight back. The payouts from those vary but they are okay.
Everyone loves them because in the last room you may find some nice modules to put on your boat. It is the only place you can find them.

Worth noting that you can do all deds with a pvp tengu (the ones you can enter that is). So a pve one should be able to breeze them.

Yep, my bad. A cruiser can only enter DED complexes rated 3 / 10 and up. The rates 1 and 2 / 10 can be done with an Astero or similar ship.

T3C can not enter 3/10 and 4/10.

I know the HM work well on the rattle and maybe this is just the area I mission in most often so here goes.
To me which missiles you use is more about the drones you are going to use than it is about the missiles.

If you are going to go the heavy / Gecko route then the shorter engagement ranges make the HM the obvious choice. My problem with this combination has always been damage and agro control on the drones so I rarely run this combination.

If you run with sentries which are best for damage and agro control on your drones because range then the cruise are a better option. Yes they will have some application issues however the greater ranges allowed by the sentry / cruise combination allow you to use slots for application that were once required for tank so in the end it tends to even out.

This really. Going to have to choose if heavy/gecko or sentry snipe.

Rapids for heavy....they kill the smaller stuff initially. Run a navi computer for speed if desired. rapid has a long reload time.

Cruise for sentry snipe. If using mjd (common) that has a recycle as well. You lose time either way if you mess up your mjd planning and are way out from acc. gate when room cleaned. Dual prop an option, but you have to make room for it. Missions with an item pick up dual prop recommended. Or be good at trigonometry to work out a triangle that has you on the container last hop lol.
