Why isn't killing an MTU considered aggro?

I have a question, and no it isn't because I've had a few destroyed. Hear me out.

If I'm in a mission site, and someone smokes a drone I have deployed, it's aggro, right? What is an MTU, if not a drone performing a non-combat function? Furthermore, the person who destroys the MTU gets a kill, right? That being said, I think it should be aggro if an MTU is attacked.

I'm pretty flameproof, so I'm ready to hear all the folks who pad their numbers using MTUs to come at me.

It depends on what your definition of aggro is.

Having quite the killboard in regards to killing MTUs, you do go suspect when you start firing at one, meaning anyone (and I mean anyone) can freely shoot at them. There are two types of MTU hunters: those who hunt abandoned ones and those who hunt MTUs in use by mission running carebears. I have tried the latter but no carebear has shot at me yet.

If you consider aggro as CONCORD coming to save the MTU, they won't. It isn't considered a criminal act to shoot at a MTU, whether in use or not.

Hope that helps...

That actually does help. Being a mission-running carebear, I have yet to respond to anyone shooting/stealing/whatevering. I'm not crazy. haha

I actually didn't know someone who smokes an MTU goes suspect. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, when I land on an MTU, whether it is being used or not, when I target it and unleash my guns I will start flashing yellow and anyone can shoot at me. Now people like Bumblefck and I are trying to get the mission runner angry and shoot at our ship, which in turn makes it so I can engage the mission runner in his PvE ship while I have my PvP ship on his juicy ship.

Sometimes it works but most times it does not. Luck of the draw.

Which is exactly why I don't engage you. haha It would take about 2 minutes and I'd be out of cap, tank disabled, dead in space, as I watched the sparks fly hoping I can warp my pod before you lock on. I'm new-ish at the game, but a 10m isk MTU isn't worth my 400mil + BS set up. :)

I agree with this guy. Most people don't learn that lesson until it happens to them. I had to move to another area since everyone there knew who I was and why I was there.

Everyone warped away, much to my dismay. Sad

I managed to get a Rattlesnake bear to shoot my Ishkur this way the other morning.
That was a LOT of fun.
Bonused Geckos are monsters.
He won, got some juicy bounty from me and some nice T2 loots.
We chatted afterwards and both had a good laugh over it.
Always nice to run into a good sport in the game.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Were you aware that defenseless newbros sometimes get lost and accidentally shoot MTU's in incursus's? If you see this teach them a lesson and blow them away. helps with player retention

Hells yeah.

And did you know that if the owner has a bounty, you can get a bit of it by killing the MTU?

Lol

You can also shoot mobile depots, but since they have a 2-day reinforcement timer......it just isn't as fun.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

I ended up getting one MTU in Umokka and warped in on a mission runner using another, but he surprised me by coming back and getting the MTU as it was in half structure. He had a Raven and I was in a 680 dps Gnosis.

Was sad that he didn't shoot at me, I would have wrecked his world since he was at 30% shields.

Come to nullsec. Plenty of MTU's lying around.

Unless you're scared of setting foot outside high-sec.

It isn't scared of setting foot outside of highsec, it is just I do not feel like getting blobbed by bored nullsec carebears at a gatecamp.

Big smile

Though nullsec is the only place I haven't lived, I don't think any nullsec alliance/corp will take me because I refuse to give my API.
