Hello everyone,

Just started playing yesterday and I need some help. I'm currentl in the process of completing mission 5 of 10 (Mountains of Molehills). I picked up the item at the agents station, but I'm stuck on how to actually drop it off. The other station is call Autama V Moon 5 Echeclon Entertainment Development Studio System. How do I actually warp drive there to drop it off? Sorry if this topic was already discussed.

Thanks,

Frank

Right click the destination , select "set destination" , undock, take the gates highlighted in yellow.

When you get there, dock up, talk to the agent again and finish the mission.

Hello and welcome to Eve,

Open up the mission journal - icon located in Neocom bar, left side of screen, select agent tab and open the mission listed. Make sure it's listed as green 'Active' and not yellow 'Offered'. If it shows 'Offered', talk to agent again and accept the mission. Right click and select 'set destination' on the drop off station/system listed in the mission briefing.

Open station items hangar and ship cargohold, transfer items to cargohold and then select 'undock'.

When in space just click the yellow gate icon in the overview and select 'jump' icon in the 'Selected item' box. keep doing that until you get to the system and then select the 'Dock' icon.

Select agents tab in station, right click on agent and 'Set Destination', then select agent again and complete mission, undock and return to agent for another mission.

Just remember that you can pretty much 'Right Click' on just about everything to view available options.

I hope I explained that correctly.

Good luck and may you have a long and rewarding career here in Eve.

Hello again,

Okay, I pasted these instructions in the Notepad so I don't have to keep clicking Shift+Tab to go back and forth from desktop to game. From there I followed the instructions step-by-step.

When I right-clicked the Drop-Off location in the Journal to "Set Destination', it showed Ekura as the Station name, but that's not the name described in the Mission Journal.

I can confirm the status of the mission as being 'Accepted'.

Thanks,

Frank

Perhaps that's the first of a couple systems on the way to your destination in Autama? If you look in the upper left under "Route" you'll see one colored square for each system you need to pass through to get somewhere.

From Ekura you can go Ekura -> Tsuguwa -> Iidoken -> Kirras -> Autama.

Another way to set the destination would be to type "Autama" in a chat, right click it -> Auto-Link -> Solar System. This will make a link you can right click and select options like "set destination".

Got it! It would've helped if I clicked the little white arrow next to Route. I wasn't sure what DeMichael meant by jumping from station to station until I reach the objective. Off to 6/10. Thank you, Cara.

I never said jump from station to station until you reach the intended system. I said "Right click and select 'set destination' on the drop off station/system listed in the mission briefing." I then said "When in space just click the yellow gate icon in the overview and select 'jump' icon in the 'Selected item' box. keep doing that until you get to the system and then select the 'Dock' icon."

I thought each step was explained sufficiently for you to understand.

When you're reading the Agent mission briefing, the mission objective will be listed. In your case the mission objective was to drop off an item in a station located in another system. Right clicking on that station listed in the mission briefing and selecting 'Set Destination' should have created a route to follow. When in space each gate to use to follow that route would be designated by yellow icon showing in the Overview. When the destination system is reached, the station icon will then show yellow in the Overview.

The 'Selected Items' box will have various command icons listed anytime you click on an item in space or in the overview, such as align, approach, warp to, jump, keep range, orbit, target, look, open, dock, etc.

Don't worry about it man. It's confusing at the beginning. I tried to go mining without mining lasers when I was new.

The key is to ask somebody who knows...so you're already doing well!

Just to add on to what DMC says here....
In many of the other games that I've played which have questing or missioning type mechanics the text portion of the mission / quest is usually clicked through pretty quickly while barely paying attention and that is typically fine. In Missions in Eve the text is usually fairly important to read through slowly enough to actually understand and pay attention to what they are trying to tell you.

I mean after you've saved the Damsel for like the 50th time you might not need to read the text in that one anymore but certainly when doing the tutorials for the first time and pretty much any mission that you've never ran before you need to read through well. Even after the first time you will need to pay attention and on some missions you have to read the text pretty much every time you get offered the mission because it can go a couple of ways.

Anyway you can't get to level cap in this game since such a thing does not exist so there is no sense in rushing through missions in Eve. It's not at all like WoW questing. Well maybe after to run the same level 4's over and over it might resemble dailies a bit, but back to my main point: read the mission text and pay attention.

Once you have a route configured, the game highlights the stargates that you have to take in yellow color, and also puts a line in the galaxy map showing you the route through all the star systems. So at this point you can:

a. Turn on the autopilot by clicking the A button when you're in space. This will make your ship automatically fly through space and take you to your destination. But it does so very slowly, leaving you vulnerable to attack by other players.

b. Click each yellow gate and click the "jump" button above the overview list. Once you get through each gate, make sure the next gate is highlighted and click jump again. And repeat. This means you're not using the autopilot feature, and you're less vulnerable to player attack because you're faster and you can react if you're attacked.

Phew! Good thing I knew enough to press "A" for autopilot. Either I'm lucky or that I haven't gone into many locations with a lot of enemy spacecrafts.

After I clicked the little white arrow to expand the Route, it went downhill from there.

Thanks for the advice.

Pretty much every one of us vets here trying to help newbros are trying to pay it forward to repay a debt we feel that we owe to all the vets that helped us get up and going.

You pretty much need friends in this game. I mean you could go it alone but it's the long hard route and IMHO less fun.

Actually it's one of the things that I really like about this game. It is an MMO after all. I got so sick of the elitist mentality from other games. In Eve no one cares what level you are nor what your gearscore is. The less experienced that you are in this game the more people are willing to help you, unless you have a self-entitled attitude.

Agree.

Most of the time the effort put forward to answer questions here is rarely acknowledged. That effort actually takes time away from engaging in other more enjoyable activity's.

I didn't see it mentioned yet ...

At the top-edge on the left of the screen are a number of icons. The agent icon looks like a man in a hat. These are the "info-panel" buttons; they appear bright when an info-panel is hidden.

Bug: sometimes you have to click on the button a couple of times for the info-panel to appear. I especially find this is the case for the autopilot "A" button.

If you open the agent info-panel, there is a bunch of info shown there. You can talk to the agent, set a route to the agent's station, etc. Most importantly it will show the destination for a mission (station, system, or deadspace), which you can set a route to.

You can close info-panel to move it out of the way to avoid screen clutter, if you want.

As someone already said, when all else fails, right-click it ... right-click everything! Nearly everything in the UI has a right-click context menu.

Don't autopilot unless you have a death wish. People have been known to shoot pods at trade hubs for autopiloting. There's at least one who does this in Amarr.
