Returning player, what can I do with this character?

So I'm giving EVE another shot and using a character I had previously. He has 11.7m skill points.
Just a little breakdown:
5.5m Drones
1.5m Engineering
1.2m Spaceship Command (Gallente focused, up to Battleship IV)
1.2m Gunnery

The rest scattered throughout shields, targeting, navigation, etc etc.
I have a Dominix and 331m isk in my wallet.
My highest standings are Federation Navy at 6.18, and Roden Shipyards at 6.62

What activities am I prepared for? What isk-generating options do I have? What's a good way to warm up before I find a corp that'll have me?

i have just returned today after 1yr away 1st thing i needed to do was get familiar with the ui changes and sort my overview, i then jumped into 1 of my ships and done a lvl3 mission "guristas extravaganzer" which turned out to be just as easy as it was 12mth ago. I think i will continue to play for now, i like exploring amd missions so am ok to make some isk there :)

Yeah, I'm kinda trying to avoid just jumping into the mission grind. It never felt super rewarding

Yeah, I've never done it solo, but I've played red vs. blue. I also hear you can make some isk doing faction warfare, but I don't know how realistic that is. I just want to establish a gameplay routine that is more satisfying than missions. Whether it be null-sec PVP or FW 50% of the time and some isk-earning activity the other 50% of the time, or self-sustaining PVP. I just don't know what the options are, and if I start running L4's again with no direction I'll probably end up quitting.

Hello,

Have you guys ever heard about Event Agents ?

Event Agents are mysterious. They can be found anywhere at anytime. There is no known complete database of them but reports state they've been spotted at Planets, Moons, Asteroid Belts, Jump Gates, inside and outside Stations, inside DED Deadspace Complexes and at Celestial Beacons. Some Event Agents can only be located by scanning while others only appear to players during certain missions.

Some Event Agents require a specific amount of Faction Standing for access while others accept Corporation or Faction Standing for access. Event Agents don't give Loyalty Points but most of them do give both Corporation and Faction Standing increase as well as some interesting and unique rewards. Each Event Agent's mission series has a great Storyline plot and will often tie in with another Event Agent.

Most Event Agent missions are tougher than those offered by regular Agents and can only be completed once in the life of the character.

If you'd like the challenge of completing the Event Agent missions, I suggest you take a look at 'The Plan'.

If you guys wanna get a slow start to get back into it ...
... why not jump into a cheap ship with probe launcher ...
... and probe down a mission runner?

Shoot his rats.
Steal his loot.
Pop his mtu.
Shoot him down if he agresses.

Much, much better than grinding your own missions. ^_^

Buy 10 Tristans and go to lowsec. Lose them all to players you had no business fighting. Repeat until you know which players you have business fighting.

IMHO it's much easier to make isk in null sec. Also much safe, with the right corp anyway. You will also have organized groups going out for PvP so you don't have to learn everything on your own.

There is a learning curve to operating in null. You'll have to learn to make good use of intel channels and learn how to make good tactical bookmarks in your home systems. But if you get with the right group you will have people to show you the ropes with that stuff.

I agree that high sec mission grinding will just lead to you taking another long break from the game.

meet me in the game in, like, one minute.

there's really no point sharing a fit with you.
you'd still be on your own.

you'd miss out.

I've tried. ^_^

You grab a cheap fast frigate, fit it for speed using overdrives ...
... fit a y-s8 afterburner ...
... and go probe down mission runners.

maybe use a different ship, but i'd try squeezing it onto one.
and using a scanning ship in a level4, which is what you want to find, is underwhelming.

so you go out there and scan for battleships.

in systems you first need to find, by using the map.
there's several ways to find out what systems you need to look for.
so many, actually, that you'll figure that one out by yourself.

I consider this a fun part, tbh.

when you've found a system, you need to look out for battleships.

they're running the missions you want to get into.

I strongly suggest fitting a fast frigate for speed using overdrives and an afterburner.
speed tanking allows you to zip through crossfire if you've once figured out how the angles work.

Also: Zoom out your ship to a level where you're far away enough to see your surroundings ...
... but still can see your tail moving behind you. That way you'll always know where you are. In 3D!

And STAY CHEAP!

Im actually going to get back into flipping bears myself over the next couple of days,
for any of ye iterested in tagging along ill privide boosts and pointers (assuming i havent become compleatly incompitant)
Hop into our pub channel " the gates of hell" ( check the alliance description for the exact spelling) and poke me when i get online, im normally late eu tz but pretty inconsistent with my play time so i may be on tonight , i may not so dont wait on me.
Ill tell you where ill be trying when i get on as i may need to fart about for a bit before finding a good system for it.

To be clear I am not recruiting so dont get yer hopes up.
