Arranged fights - Battle Arenas for 2 fleets

A place that doesn't affect the current universe in other way than destroying stuff.

Some people, like me, would like to have a couple fights and log off. Spending hours online to log off disappointed without any action pushes me further to quit after almost 6 years. The game universe is fun and nice to explore all the stuff but at this point all I want are some fights and that's all.

So I'm suggesting a way that 2 fleets that may be random, based on fleet number and other criteria (T1, T2, T3, capitals), or agreed to be moved in a instanced solar system in a similar manner with the way Alliance Tournament works. There you have a limited time of say 10-30 minutes to... fight (now maybe capitals will need more time but whatever, this would need investigation).

Of course, ships destroyed remain destroyed and podding with implants and all that too (maybe allow the pilot to stay and spectate).

What are your thoughts? I would love to blow all the ISK I have accumulated in this manner. Would be a great sink too I believe.

Hi-sec PVP playground
Adding Instanced PvP missions, like mini alliance tournament battles
Player hosted tournaments
EVE needs Battle Arenas (or how to add new content to EVE Online)
A more structured PvP training environment for new players

tldr;

- no instancing. Ever. It goes against what EVE is. It also allows for "safe spot shenanigans."

- skillpoints, ISK value, tech level, class, etc... by themselves they are all terrible ways to gauge how powerful a person and their ship is. A person with fewer skillpoints CAN beat a person with more... a ship worth a fraction of another ship can win... tech level provides more specialization and options, not outright power... larger classes are inherently weaker against smaller opponents... etc.

- Arenas teach nothing about "freeform" PvP.
There is a reason why fits and tactics you see in the Alliance Tournament don't appear in general gameplay. Simply put; in an arena you focus more on endurance and staying power. Outside of an arena... anything goes as long as it brings victory.

- Arenas threaten "freeform" PvP by being a "safer option."
Not much to say here. Why go out and risk getting stomped on when you can control and set the variables of a battle in a place you cannot be interrupted in?

Some people like you are best served in low sec. Every time I went there with my Armageddon, I got a fight and was satisfied. There is no arena system necessary at all in EVE. Players just need to think.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

But it'd be a faucet, not a sink at all.

Find a corp filled with good content creators. Some people always seem to be in the right places at the right times to consistently find fights. The entire charm of big fights is you never know who is going to show up, and which side they will be on. Likewise, without a backdrop on the players involved, what alliances they are from, what they are fighting for, how important a loss or victory will be, fights sort of lose a lot of flavor and gravity - it's only that they are painted on the rich canvas of New Eden that they actually become a good spectacle.

Echoing others, there are so many calls for this sort of thing. If interest really was all that high, I would presume someone would have started a league on SISI, etc, and gotten something organized. The fact that someone has not leads me to believe that demand actually isn't that high, and that one night without finding a fight, or being on the wrong end of a cyno, just makes people feel this way strong enough to post, but never actually -do- anything about it. The tools are there.

When you don't have anything to lose, there is no fun.

Correct. Still, it helps EVE universe by destroying stuff so the industry wing can have sells too.

Lowsec = I flew with Spectre Fleet for a while, even they have times when there is nothing to do. Being in a corp is worse.. you have schedules fleets, if you're not in the prime timezones you have to waste late evenings only to get blueballed or kill that afk ratter. Mostly it's either you blob someone or they blob you. The nice big fights you're talking about are very rare and they fuel a lot of people to look around and "get content". But that works only for a while.

This system would have no effect on EVE universe, "freedom" will still be there. This would be an option for people like me that want a reason to stay subscribed. If you suggest me to play only the way you want, that doesnt mean that I will do, I will only leave and move on. There are plenty of games to waste money on after all.

After all these years, while I like how EVE generally works, I wasted too much time finding the good fights and there are not many of them and most of them have been in small scale fleets that neither one got blobbed.

I lost all my EVE friends in the last 2 months and it seems to be a trend looking to the eve-offline charts. And I bet it's not because EVE is filled with pvp content. Also not hard to correlate spikes with wars which suggests lack of pvp stuff to do in the rest of time.
