Judging by what I read it seems that part of the game no longer exists? That sucks. That was so much fun when i first played this game.

this sorta still works, bears are terrified of anything that flashes though i.e. you,
so do wear your patient socks, bring beer and stick some good tunes on

TBH sometimes I find it amusing just to fly around in a ship that 99% of the players around me could 1-shot with my suspect flag...and watch them all tremble and cower in fear from the "obvious trap"...

But yeah, if you want to actually get a fight....be prepared for a lot of waiting/patience.

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

MTU hunting and destruction is the new can-flipping (very enjoyable it is too, though the locals generally wise up and stop being AFK - rotate your hunting grounds so as not to decimate the hunting!)

MTU = Mobile Tractor Unit

MTU hunting = scanning them down (because they are mainly used by missioners, in mission pockets) and killing them (and the missioner if you get very very lucky and he shoots you)

Ok cool but what does it actually do and what skills do I need to have it? Is there a guide to doing this?

Find MTU.

Lock up MTU.

Shoot/destroy MTU. You become Suspecty when you do this, so everybody can shoot you. Be aware.

Hope mission bear/miner/whoever shoots at you.

If so, profit$.

However.

There are SOME individuals.....who leave MTU's out....as traps.

Bear

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

^ This.
Swiping loot can generate fun, but destroying someone's tractor unit tends to increase the chances of fun.
If it happens to be a magpie tractor even more so, as those things cost as much as some battleship hulls.

Be wary of multiple ships lingering on grid with a MTU that's seemingly unattended. RVB, for example, sometimes uses them to generate fights. I totally do not know this because I totally didn't aggress on when there were four frigates hanging about 3000km away. Right :)

And then there is the rapturous joy when you pop the MTU and find out it is chock full of Blingy Loots because hey, they make good storage containers, dontcha know.

Or if it all burns, harvesting the glorious tears that result.........

I have actually just held point on a playmate while orbiting them and made them wait til my drones finished off their MTU before properly engaging for exactly this reason.

The loot fairy is fickle, and rarely is nice twice in a row.
