Somehow I find it unlikely that when you hire mercs you are willing to pay trillions of isk...even if by some remote chance you aren't lying about having the isk at all...

Also 3.5 billion isk is probably, yep, more than they make for the standard merc contract...

So uh...I think they got everything they could have realistically expected to get out of you...and since they never had any "trust" to begin with among the informed members of the EVE community...they didn't lose anything at all other than your nebulous, most likely imaginary future business...


TBH there is not a single person in this game I would ever pay a ransom to... If Chribba himself had my jump freighter tackled (somehow) and offered me a 3.5 billion isk ransom to let me go...I don't think I'd go for it even then.... But to each their own. I hope you have learned from your mistake P




Also @DMC - Self Destruct still gives them a killmail - they fixed that like 3-4 years ago or so...because all the supercapital pilots were doing it and people complained...

Unless you can seriously hurt them, they don't care.

If they, say, lost a few dozen POCO/POS because of this, they might take notice. If there's one seriously idiotic mistake you can make for your alliance, it's making someone with an insane amount of money mad enough to do exactly that.

I would say it could be worse, but JFs are expensive.

Different corps/alliances have different standards for handling this kind of situation.
Some of them do honor ransoms, even from war targets. However, to be fair, they are few and far between.

Flying a JF in high sec under war dec is pretty dumb.
You can't really expect much sympathy from folks around here given the circumstances.
It may have been kind of mean for them to offer a ransom, but that's still well within the bounds of play.
It's still not piracy really, as you were not an innocent victim... you were a valid war target, and they managed to score a nice bonus in addition to the kill.

Personally, I wouldn't have offered the ransom because I'd feel compelled to honor it... and I'd rather have the frozen corpse and the loot.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

We can only assume that CCP removed this feature in an effort to get more idiots killed in wars.

I am glad they did because I would not have gotten a solo Orca kill with a Hound because he didn't look at his notification that I wardecced his corp. Lol

Yes, this is exactly what I expected from the community. Nothing new.

Can this post be called salty tears? Hell no, I lost, tried to make a ransom deal and the mercs failed.

Do I want my ISK back? Hell no, it seems they need it more.

Do I need to grow a pair? Hell no, I don't see mercs flying a JF while wardecced.

The goal of my posting? Just to state the obvious, mercs without proper leadership can't function. Just a bunch of spoiled brats.
