Hi,

I'm new to the game, and today was not a good day for me.

Today, I got ganked by two players in high sec (0.6 Hagaken). One of their colleagues sent me a mail saying I was mining without a permit and was AFK. Apparently, these things are a criminal offense towards them.

So I had a conversation with this guy who sent me the mail who was terribly serious about abiding and agreeing to their rules. Said I needed to pay them 10m for a permit. This guy then decided I wasn't fit to get one due to my attitude towards him, and quit our private convo. I was forced to message him back since I wanted to keep mining without interruptions. He then wanted me to pay 30m since I was on their red list or something.

So I sent the guy 30m. He gave me a permit and said I need to display it in my bio. Then he said the corp I was in at that time did not have a good standing with their alliance or something, so I was forced to leave the corp as well. Lastly, they wouldn't allow me to fly a Retriever and forced me to comply with their rules to fly a Procurer or Skiff.

This is ridiculous. Can anyone help me get protection from these guys? It looks like they are led by a so-called saviour of hisec James 315.

What is wrong with me trying to play the game solo and do whatever I want? I need help or advice.

Thanks

Just so you know, only CODE alts link their website in their "complaint" post, and you are a CODE alt.

So, forget it.

EVE is a MMO PvP oriented game were you are not safe anywhere. PERIOD.

If you are truly a new player, you need to learn that really quickly. But I'm guessing that the amount of time you spend in (eve on your first day) means that you are in fact not a new player and just another whiner attention seeker type...

No, we can just tell you how not to get ganked:
Ventures are fast. Run an afterburner, and they won't be able to catch it with the catalyst fits they like to use.
Hulks and retrievers are squishy. If you aren't paying careful attention, they're easy to kill.
Procurers with damage controls and a lot of shield hardeners are stupid expensive to gank.

EVE actually is a dangerous place. It's boring without people trying to kill you and take your stuff.

I am aware that it is PVP oriented, and all along I though I was safe to mine in Hi sec. PERIOD.
Player-driven government or whatever you call it is bad. If I don't abide to their rules and pay for their "permit", where should I go then?

I am a new player and I only know the basics of the game. I don't know what all these fancy talk about CODEs and stuffs are all about. I am out of Rookie Help chat so I've been playing more than a month, but I consider myself new.

And no, I am not just another whiner attention seeker type, but I'm sure you are an arrogant douche in real life buddy.

What bothers me is that it's even dangerous in high sec? What about new players like me that are forced to adapt to this kind of rule. Their CODE is pure BS.

stop writing "code" in capitals, you make them sound relevant

Domination Nephilim - Angel Cartel

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

Memphis Baas wrote code in caps, so I'm following whatever this person wrote. CODE? What does CODE stand for?

"code" by all means tries to racketeer players by extorting money in exchange of service that CONCORD does for free. Best part, is when things like Jitaburn happens they are nowehre to be seen. At least you know their legal name and I just can't wait when imperial alliances and corporations buckle up and wardec "code" out of existence.

Also, the idea is not that brilliant, specially in long term. Forcing weak players to pay will make them leave this game and not spend on it or/and will make them join corps that will anihilate "code" in near future.Pirate

There is nothing worthy in this world even if others think it is worth something...

You read my mind. Also they are just high sec thugs who will get punished. Remember that.

Best chance, you will end up not mining and instead leaving game or fighting them.

That is your assumption...which was wrong. In any game, it is the players responsibility to educate themselves as to how the mechanics work.

In a MMO, really, what did you expect? As for where you should go, how about you ask "How do I survive" or "How do I mine safely?". Running away is not the first thing you should be thinking of.

Doubtful...new players don't run to LowSec on their first day...
