need help figuring out Planetary Interaction please :)

I've tried my best to figure out Planetary Interaction. I'm a merchant and would love to get into PI. But I can't. I bought a PI control "unit" (the right kind for the particular planet) but I couldn't figure out how to "deloy" it. The orbiting station wouldn't allow me to place the control unit there, and after opening the planet in planet view, I couldn't place it either. I even used a special ship with a PI cargo area to transport the unit.

Please help! I've already tried to make sense of the PI Youtube video so please don't just refer me to that.

Thanks!

1: Place command center into cargohold of ship.
2: Undock (travel to the system your desired planet is in at this point if required).
3: View in Planet Mode the planet you wish to exploit and decide where upon said planet you would like to place the command center.
4: Using the 'Build' menu at top left of screen while in planet mode, click on 'command center' tab then click again on the {xyz command center} bit.
5: now click on the planets surface, this will 'place' the center.
6: Click on the command center icon on the planct.
7: select 'upgrade' and upgrade it to the highest level your skills allow.
8: click 'Submit' at top left of screen.
9: done. Start building the rest of the facility.

CCP has a number of videos describing aspects of gameplay in their Flight Academy series. They can be watched in game using the Tutorial video tab in the Help app (? icon on neocom)

They can also be watched out of game on YouTube. There is a 4 part series on setting up a PI colony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXvw9EtWPGw

Okay cool, thanks! I think I missed a step. And can *any* ship "deliver" the command center as long as it has the cargo space?

I'm going to make an addition to the above suggestions.

Begin training Gallente Industrial to a minimum of IV. This will give you access to the range of speciality cargo haulers, Nereus (agility), Kryos (minerals), Epithal (planetray), Miasmos (raw ore), and Iteron (general cargo).

Okay cool. I just bought a Sigil (for something else). Will this work?

The Sigil will "worK" but the Gallente Industrial ships Thomas listed are optimised for the special tasks he listed. Your PI hauling will be a lot easier (& involve less trips) if you use an Epithal.

I gave up on it. I got Command Center Upgrades to 3, but still could not upgrade my center. I became very frustrated and decommissioned the colony. lol

Trust me, we all understand the frustration you are feeling towards PI. I myself had to spend several hours of time watching videos of colony setup before I was able to successfully build a PI train. Do some more research, Eve Univ is a good site. Watch a few videos from the tube, Eve for Billionaires is a very good series. And most of all, never be shy about asking even the simplest of questions. We were all where you are right now at some point, and someone helped us figure out the MESS that is PI.

Good luck and keep hitting dscan when flying indy.
