Being very new to this game just wondering if i could get some thoughts in which amarrian battlecruiser would be best suited overall for "pve" content atm leaning towards the Harbinger but that's based purly on the fact it looks nice lol,and the other is Prophecy.
Would appreciate any input,advice or thoughts on this as a battlecrusier is my "be all end all" ship for quite some time as skill trainings suggest.

For pve, until you cross train a second race for angel and gurista rats, both for level 3s. The Harby melts sansha, blood raiders, and rogue drones better than a draek does. And for those pesky angels and guristas a Prophecy is preferable to a Harby because you have added explo and kinetic resist along with the ability to use guns other than lasers and a launcher with which can spit out kinetic and explo damage even if unbonused.

For the Harby start training AWU and get beams on it. Having no range bonus I found that preferable to pulses even with scorch. On the Prophecy I trained projectiles and put 650s along with an assault launcher iirc (maybe it was a heavy launcher) as the grid is tight on the proph. One could add rails to it instead, but I haven't messed with the ship since the hybrid buff. The fitting might be easier and they might do more dps against guristas. Plug it in PYFA or EFT.

In the long run though you will want to train any of the other 3 races ships (Gallente drone boats, Minmatar projectile and shield tankers, or Caldari missile and shield tankers) to mission against gurista or angels. Amarr simply does not have good alternatives for those rats at level 4. Besides, a second race is the best insurance for every character so that you have options and don't justifiably or unjustifiably feel stuck in the suck.

edit- I would not use an Oracle for missions, although admittedly I haven't tried it. Reason being no dronebay. Maybe you could kill scrambling frigs with large pulses and (multi?) webbage, but it's so much more certain that tech II light drones can do that for you.

For PvE anywhere other than Amarr space (or EM/Therm weakness space) Amarr ships suck. This is coming from someone who flys Amarr. The fact that you don't have selectable damage types REALLY sucks. Sure they've got great tanks, but it's the damage dealing that cripples Amarr in PvE.

The harbinger is very solid for both pvp and pve. Those who say the drake is better have probably never used anything but a drake. The drake is one of the lowest dps BC's in game and is restricted to kinetic damage to achieve even mediocre dps. I dare say for those reasons it is in fact one of the worst pve BC's. I'm sure I'll take all sorts of heat for that but it's true.

With decent drone and turret skills, the harb puts out very solid dps at short to mid range. Tank isn't an issue, even against angels. They don't last long when getting slapped with 800 dps of pulse laser and drones, wrong damage types be damned.

The Harbinger will do alright for L2/3 missions provided you don't mess around with Guristas, Angels, or Caldari or Minmatar empire faction rats. It's also capable of light WH (C1/C2, C3s are a bit beyond its reach tank wise) and Incursion (although most FCs want shiny faction/T2/T3 stuff, if pinched for DPS, they'll still pull a well-fit BC) PvE.

The Prophecy probably will be able to do Angel/Minmatar rats slowly using projectiles (using lasers against Angel/Minmatar rats is generally only workable if you have top-end gunnery supports). Very few BCs should even attempt to run Gurista or Caldari missions at a serious level given the way NPC jamming works now (you might be able to use a heavily ECCMed armor Harbinger, but be prepared to bail if you can't break the jams, and you may have to cap inject due to the lack of slots for rechargers/CPRs).

The good news is that the Harbinger is a solid PvP platform, too (either as a DPS boat, or in a full-neut fit). Just remember to train for T2 pulses fairly early on, you'll want Scorch before you start PvPing in the thing.

Guristas/angels at the l3 level are not as big an issue as they are to an Amarr BS in l4. They are simply non-optimal targets. The NPC ships just aren't that tough in l3's. With a tracking computer and t2 medium drones, I still eat Angel Extravaganze rather easily, even with beams fitted.
