Duh duh duhhhh!

Ganking.

Oh I'm just full of ideas on sticking it to the gankers. Much to ganker lover CCP_Falcon and his sycophants chagrin. Lol And as someone said I should keep the ideas coming, here's another.

Well this idea at least still results in blown up ships.

Decoys. Give the anti-gankers an item that one can carry in their ship which projects the signature of some high-value cargo.

There could also be a module that will simulate the signature of high-value modules.

I want to be flying around in a Kryos with a billion ISK worth of Megacyte in my hull, that isn't really a billion ISK worth of Megacyte but rather a decoy. And when the gankers go to blap my ship, which they will, they will get nothing but the decoy cargo and a trip back to some station in a pod (prefereably in another system because NPC stations won't accept them).

The item should be user tunable to simulate the cargo and quantity they choose. Same with modules that simulate a high-value module.

Oh imagine the fumes coming from the gankers. Especially once they realize that their risk to profit ratio from ganking has gone up significantly. Although we know CCP (those of the ornithological variety anyway) *much* prefers the fumes of players who's hard work is taken from them in seconds from gankers getting filthy rich off their exploits.

nah...

don't ruin gankers their awesome play experience...

risk versus reward!!

They risk their expensive catalysts to kill those cheap ships...mackinaws...haulers...it's so terribly hard and painful!

and poor them they are also flooded by tears of the ungrateful persons they ganked...

they need to collect them to avoid drowning...

Not really, as you probably won't be around for that much longer if you continue to go down this way, and neither he nor anyone else will care that much.

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

What are you talking about. Is there another open thread on this topic?

Are you telling me there is a blanket ban on any and all discussions around this topic?

Can you show me that in the EULA or ToS?

Or you could try it with serious gank baiting.

Done that back in the old days when mining cruisers were still a thing. Put a new character into a mining cruiser after training for a t2 tank first thing. Added it to the mining fleet with orca shield boosts. In comes the lone cat, goes for the presumably soft target and leaves with a derp after concord got him just fine.

Most of the cats that fell for it had a ship scanner in their cargo Lol. It were just a few, nothing big, but excitement the first time and always fun.

But that ofc means effort...

Hey wait a minute- she's on to something here. A Decoy in the cargohold? Sounds like fun.

How much would such a high-tech decoy cost tho? Perhaps it'd be worth ganking you on the off-chance the decoy dropped LOOOL

Afterthought... would such an item be able to mask a T2 ship as its T1 counterpart? It's kind of what I hoped for when SKINs were introduced: fleet of Merlins on DScan! Oh CRAPPP they're Worms

Maybe the new official statement is that ganking doesn't exit.

It's only a PvP fight between a destroyer and a unattentive player that forgot to fit weapons on his barge.

He has weapons they are called drones. Whether he is at the keyboard to use them is a differentt matter.

To be fair, my barge puts out 200 DPS. If a ship's combat worth equals EHP x DPS, I'm pretty confident I can take down one or two of them before I go. IF I go-- once their DPS starts dropping they may very well not have enough juice before concord kicks in.

Even more than damage drones, an afterburner fit with counter-web and ECM drones is also quite adept at dictating range.

Not meant as a troll or anything, but the idea that a barge can shoot back is not far-fetched nor ridiculous; [TEST] has been doing so with great effect. So has Sock Puppet Federation. As one who's had his Dramiel put into armor by a Retriever, I can testify: had this retriever started shooting right away and not given me a full one minute headstart, I might have had to disengage and siad Retriever would still be happily chipping away.

Think of it what you will; the combined DPS of a flock of miners is quite impressive and applies very well against typical ganking ships. Since you have nothing left to lose at that point, might as well go for it aye?

The more important question is...

When will CCP fix the mechanics regarding dodging wardecs? I mean, suicide ganking is only really a thing, because it is so insanely easy to avoid confrontation in highsec.

But again, I'm not part of the crowd wanting complete safety in highsec. So I guess I'm a troll?

CCPs stance is, that non consensual combat in highsec is part of the game design. It just has different consequences compared to low or null.

You are not supposed to be safe. Not even in highsec.

The development in the last six years since I started playing was mostly in favor of the attacked. Even if it doesn't look or feel like it. Problem is, every time CCP caters to the players asking for a buff of industrials, freighters and barges or for a nerf of gankers, the other side has adopted quickly, was astonishingly creative and got better in almost every aspect of the game.

In HS, you don't need to shoot back to not become a victim. All it needs is to really start playing the game.
