Looting is worthwhile, but salvaging is not.

Having an alt following a gate behind in an Industrial carrying multiple MTU is handy. Drop a MTU, bookmark it, and move on to the next room. When the mission is complete, warp back and collect the MTUs.

I've never had a problem with gankers nor ninjas in all my 7+ years.

Whaaaat?! I tried some missionrunning just before I quit eve and I got ninjalooted every single mission pretty much. Was running missions in a domi and sat 100 km away from MTU sniping with sentry drones. I pretty much allways had atleast 1 guy warp in looting my MTU... That part of the game just seemed really broken to me tbh. Tried missionrunning for different factions and in different systems as well. This was the case everywhere I went. Perhaps I was just really unlucky, idk... If I for some really wierd reason ever would want to farm ISK for other ppl like that again, I'd have to pvp fit and sit ontop of my MTU and loot if before others could, or simply kill them.

You can't loot MTUs...unless you destroy them first. Death to semi-AFK ISKcentric bot-aspirancy!

Perfection is a dish best served like wasabi .

Normal MTUs are super easy to scan down as are Marauders. If you are using one or the other or both in pretty much any decently busy missioning system you can count on visitors. High sec is full of PvP and there is nearly nothing that you can do to prevent it. High sec is heavily skewed in the favor of the aggressor.

Luckily the best isk / hour in high sec missioning involves not even bothering with loot and salvage. If you want to avoid PvP and stay in high sec you pretty much have to stay in an NPC corp, do not use MTUs, Fly a ship that is harder to scan down, Abandon all of your wrecks as soon as you see someone else in your mission space.

However Null sec is a totally different story. In null sec anything goes so you can defend your space and the balance between aggressors and defenders is much closer to even. Further in null sec you typically know when reds are coming from several systems away. So you can safe up and reship in plenty of time.

Of course another option is the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" motto which involves you becoming the ninja.

Kirk Long, welcome to the EvE forums where most people will assume you have the same skills trained that they do.

Missions blitzing especially the burners is where the ISK / Hr is to be made, however considering your character is about 3 months old it is not likely you will have the character skills trained to be able to blitz burners or level 4's efficiently and nothing will negate the high ISK / LP per hour capability of these activities faster than not having the proper skills trained.

As your skills train and you continue to look into all of the excellent suggestions offered here I recommend continuing to run level 4's using an MTU to make it more efficient and to increase your profit for the time spent.

I am going to go against the others here who say to ignore most of the lot and salvage and cherry pick only the best. I say take it ALL and then sell the best and reprocess the rest and use that to make stuff and sell it on the markets in your area as a way of boosting your ISK.

Another option I do not see listed here is blitzing level 3 missions. For characters with low skills it is possible and in fact it is often more profitable to blitz level 3 missions than the run level 4's.
