LowSec DED Complexes: Fittings

I've been scanning out in LowSec, and the area I live is pretty commonly has 4/10 and 5/10 DED sites. I took a shot at the 5/10 DED Complex (Sansha) and was taken aback by the difficultly. Turns out, my ship wasn't enough to weather the incoming DPS, though I was able to warp out safely. I even had a friend come back in a tanked Battleship (I was in a BC), yet we were still overwhelmed.

What calibre of ship and fitting is required for this level of complex? Should I bench myself til I can fly a T3, or are we just doing it wrong?

Some of the 5/10 DED can be down right nasty in losec, outhgrowth rogue drone hive comes to mind for example
normaly we run them in T3 or BS.
Currently using an abaddon with a corpie running mostly apoc, can be a bit overkill mind you but the dps can be quite enormous, also since it s losec we cant really use pimped out ships with things like core-X hardeners so it adds to the difficulty.
We tried using a legion too but since its quite new to us we havent found a good fit yet

I am also interested in hi sec and low sec exploration. But I can only fly Minmatar ships.

Am I locked out of exploration? All I read is "use Tengu, use Ishtar, use [whatever non Minmatar]".

Any ship and fitting available for us duct tape users?

your best bet is ofc the tengu
very good dmg projection while providing speed and tank to reduce incoming damage to a minimum
but that's not what you're asking for,for solo work there's a whole bunch of other ships who laugh at the sansha l5.

ishtar comes to mind, albeit slow in killing things, it gets the job done. much like the gila. sleipnir, nighthawk, any T3.
battleship hulls also work great in this complex, it's only harder to get there (by the means of solo gate travel).
but i wouldnt take smaller T1 hulls into it solo, maybe the loldrake if you have the time.

if they didnt change it the last months, the sansha L5 is somewhat blitzable.
in the second room you only have to kill a bunch of rats (CR/BCs or frigs, cant remember) to get the final gate unlocked.
in the last pocket, you put down the slave, bookmark his wreck and get back to it 1-2 minutes later, when everything is gone

What kind of tanked DPS is necessary for these? I was looking at running them in my Gila...

I don't know that I would agree the Ishtar is necessarily slower however. It of course depends on whether you are truly solo or not. In a truly solo setup I'd say the Ishtar can be one of the fastest. The reason being you can fit all of the necessary gear onto the hull without sacrificing any of your dps. With a tengu for example, you lose at least one slot for the probe launcher. And a second if you want to fit a cloak of some sort (either covert ops which kills dps more, or a standard cloak to at least mwd cloak past gate camps)

As soon as you have a dual setup scanner/dps toon, then the tengu can be setup for much better dps.

Still my complete Ishtar setup costs less that my tengu hull alone.

At the person that was pure minmatar..
Minmatar have some great ships to use, ESPECIALLY with the 90% EM resist, Armor Loki, Shield Vaga, Armor Muninn, Wolf all great ships use low/high

At the OP, it really works best if you have someone in a Gaurdian or Basi (depending whether your shield or armor tanked), fit pure resists and gank and get through them as fast as possible, altho a Loki should be able to solo it, Legion is more for Angel space or easier Sansha sites

I always thought the Cyclone would make a good exploration ship for Minmatar, but I rarely see anyone mention it. It's got good high/med slot layout for the exploration modules you'll need and a bonus for active shield tanking.

Best of all it has headlights to explore those dark areas of space.

Yea those headlights are nice, but the thing is it's the equivalent to using a Typhoon for missions. It's hard to get a good tank while keeping good dps, plus it uses Missiles and AC's, by the time you can successfully use both you should be in a better ship, plus it's got just plain low cap

Hi there, i hear alot about Wolf, Dramiel and Cynabal being some of the good ship for plexing in low and high sec. Hope it helps.

@ Minmatar only pilot

I haven't tried low sec plexing yet but I run the following for high sec:

Jaguar:

3x 200mm T2 Autos w/ RF EMP
1x Sisters Core Probe Launcher

AB (Whatever flavour you want)
Medium Shield Extender (named)
Analyser 1
Codebreaker 1

2x Gyro T2
1x Tracking Enchancer T2

2x Gravity Capacitor Upgrades

I should imagine a similar setup in a Vagabond would make low sec sites doable providing speed was kept up, kill any webbers first, etc...

As you've noticed there is a rather significant increase in dps and difficulty between 4 and 5-10's.

I've only ever done Angel Red Light and Serp Hydroponics so I can't accurately speak about the rest. I've run both with a Domi solo and done nicely, but that's with alot of skills at 5 and T2 Heavies and Sentries. If your sp is a bit lower bringing friends will make a big difference. A pair of active armor phoons with a cap trans and remote rep each should be able to tank them and have enough dps to run them with reasonable efficiency. Not sure about the munin but my sheild ishtar ran Serp Hydro without to much stress.

On average I find both need @ 90 min. The fastest I've ever run Red Light was 30 with a nighthawk tanking and a hype and my domi dropping dps. Keep in mind you are in low sec so getting in and out quick-ish is best.

On a ' good ' day 5-10's can be very generous so even divided by 3 or 4 it's worth your time and the extra firepower gets you in and out more efficiently.
