Player Features and Ideas Discussion

So. Eve is old enough. Some of the players have grown into adults. Lives get in the way. Political landscape changes. Assets get stuffed around the 18 (or so whatever) corners of New Eden.

I recently re-subbed for a couple of months on an offer. However, my stuff is all over the place. Yeah so some of it is down to poor housekeeping but I was never a full time player despite having three accounts and some stuff predates jump drives.

What I need is a quick fire option to put all my assets in one place without having to work too hard.

Yeah it is lazy but, if you want me to sub and start playing again regularly then you need to give a rarely offered option for people to regroup all the stuff that is sitting around out there.


So I suggest:

For the price of 1 plex. An offer (renewable only every 5 years) is given to each subscriber to move all of their null-sec and low sec assets in stations to a single low sec station. "Interbus special removals" offer to tidy up ya sheet.

Is this lazy? Definitely
Does this undermine the hauling industry? Yep

Does it make sense to give returning players who played for years and dropped stuff off all over the place) a chance to regroup their assets and start using them? I think so.

Is it a cheat? Probably.

Do you want old git's like me to return to game and play? Games are about fun and sometimes the "job" that is Eve does not make sense.

For my £8 per month I want interactive play - be it PvE or PvP. I do not want to go clean up my mess, coz there are far better options to spend my valuable downtime than organising contracts, getting cyno and cap buddies or trying to sell off ships here and modules there.

There are plenty of restrictions that could be imposed but I think it would be smart to clean New Eden up a bit?

Im ok with it on a once per 5 years IF it excludes high sec stuff AND if you can only move your stuff in low, null,wspace to a lowsec/null/wspace station or citadel of your choosing. IE: no moving from low or lower to high sec.

I'm totally opposed to any form of asset teleportation in Eve. Call me an antiteleportationist if you must, but nothing destroys the concept that everything in space in Eve is at risk faster than this idea.

If you want the stuff that badly, move it, or pay someone to move it for you. If not, sell it.

Also, even if it is only once every five years per account - I have five accounts. That means I can contract everything to an alt and move everything once a year - totally free of risk.

Fully understand the reservations but, I wonder how many other Vets unsubbed would take this single opportunity as an option to return.

The single Plex cost was a thought at putting a cost, a penalty for taking the easy option. However, it was never my primary restriction. My thoughts were always on making this "limited" in its application.


Perhaps an "amnesty". A single allowance (per account) heavily advertised and emailed to all past and present users that on one day there will be a single shot at the following:

1. Whilst in a low sec station a single button press.
2. Once activated - all items, ships, mods, mins, components etc are affected.
3. Taken from all null sec and all low sec stations
4. Moved to a single location in a null or low sec station (or outpost) where the capsuleer is present.

A single amnesty (or maybe one every 4-5 years) for a single one shot use on a single day (yes this will be unfair to those that cannot log in). The option no longer available after the "window".

By making it all items in all stations only once for a limited time means that it cannot be "worked" so easily.

Yes a creative player could then split some of the items so that each character could "pull" the items to a different location for each but then why should it not be that each account gets to move what the player owns on the one day to where the items will be used.



As a one time option to return to the game with my assets available yes I do want this. CCP has a lot of competition out there. A growing number of space based alternatives. As I mentioned in my original post, restrictions would have to apply so that the suggestion cannot be used as a phantom Super Mega Freighter.

However, Eve Online will remain "not the right game" if it does not provide an option that will entice returning player subscriptions away from other simpler titles. Do you want a populated world? With assets being used?

I was not aware of the liquidation services that players offer, so thank you for mentioning it. Perhaps it is effective enough and does not require too much work. I will look into that.

Pick one.

1. People don't return to the game because it's suddenly easier to "clean up the trash"; people return because there's a new feature they like, or a new war that their buddies are involved in. When they return, joining that action will be their priority, not cleaning up.

2. Those of us who are obsessed about organized assets don't leave a mess in the first place. It sounds like the mess bugs you, and you imagine that it bugs everyone else, and thus you're trying to solve a problem. But, personally my assets are about as tidy as they can be, and if I were the type of person to leave a million pieces of junk in a million places, then I wouldn't CARE about cleaning up. Messy persons stay messy.

3. In order to appease the "no teleportation" and "no taking away emergent gameplay" crowds, you're pre-nerfing your suggestion into oblivion. 1 PLEX for an opportunity to do it once every 5 years? What if I feel like coming back to the game 6 months from now, then make a mess, leave, and feel like coming back in another 6 months after that? I mean, major wars typically happen every 6 months, and the summer and winter expansions are usually more featured than the rest. Every 5 years doesn't cut it, you're pre-nerfing your feature too much.

4. If you don't pre-nerf it, it'll be abused, and if you do pre-nerf it, it'll be useless. Too much work to balance and maintain this feature. Not worth CCP's time.
