How has not being able to see log in status affected real merc work?

Some people know me, some don't.

I'm dipping my toes into coming back but I just heard that you no longer get a notification of who in the enemy corp is logged in or not.

Off hand, this seems to be something that fairly severely impacts merc work, so how is it working out?

So after reviewing that thread and some other details, short answer is totally screwed with no revert or solution on the horizon.

How depressing.

I knew the CSM would eventually nuke my beloved profession.

The effect has been ,
focused groups like us have an inordinate amount of work to do.
Borderline burnout levels of work, bear in mind i love the work and its just too much imho

The plus is the targets never expect you to come find them so you can get some glorious ops going if you do the legwork befor going live
But
Once they realise you actually track them they scatter and once this happens the workload goes up several orders of magnitude.

Options are infiltration (opertunistic at best), convo invite spam (extreamly poor practice) or potential burnout.

This saw an immediate and sustained rise in mass decks (100+per merc) and the various entities setteling into the hubs and pipes.

The new structures cant be taken down under war so if they have one theoreticaly you should get a fight by smacking that but by and large they just let them die, the small ones anyway.

They can be killed with 2-3 vindies with 2-3 guardians if undefended and manned so they arent hard to kill but its a massive pain in the arse, particularly if you are only smaking it to force an engagememt because we have yet to see one.

You can thank ccp foxfour for this one, the api was opened up to allow automating contacts, this ment you could fill your watchlist to the brim in a couple of minets which was op enough to force the hand on the watchlist.
This is why locators saw no balance pass which ive been vocaly pushing for for almost 6months now.

Raz is a good man to chat to about it, hes on most of the day.

Depends what you see as "real mercing". We have stopped as an alliance for now, and did for a while whilst we screwed around in syndi/cr.. until the mbc however. Id say for low/null/wh mercs, the watchlist hasnt changed much in terms of difficulty.
