Nano and a Damage control? isn't that counter-productive? I'm a noob, but I still think I'd either drop the nano for like... and overdrive, or another BCS (If I had the CPU), or drop the damage control for another BCS or Nano.

Otherwise, yeah, I agree, fitting for shield regen is stupid in PVP.

I don't want to elaborate more than that:
It's counter-productive when the bulk of your tank is in structure + you entering structure is within the normal routine etc. IE: nanofiber + DC in a taranis is counterproductive, or nano-fiber in most capitals is counterproductive.

In a drake, the extreme bulk of your EHP is not in your hull - it's in your shields. That extra, non-stacking resists from the DC do add more than a "bit" to you survivability. It most likely won't save you once you enter structure (even armor), but it does buy you some more time once you do. Overall the effect on your tank is quite significant.

Depends on how you fly it too ofc...I personally had so many drake losses when the tackler was also @ structure or someone I wanted to take with me in low structure etc flying the 2x nano ver, that if I had a DC would be a different story.

In light of what Diomidis pointed out there are a couple of other trends to look at.

As BC-blobs profilerated the Drake fits saw some typical trend-changes, especially in relation to the countering trends of Zealots and later Baddons. The early skirmish-HAM- and post-nano nano-Drakes often had tight fits involving implants. As larger groups with larger SP-spreads began using the ships the 3-bcs staple changed to a 2-bcs staple, the 2-invul, 3-cdfe average either changed into an invul-em or em-cdfe average; and Regoliths began see the light of day, despite them having less HP than similar trade on the 1600mm armor-side. You would also begin to see more overstacked tanks with a higher amount of resist and buffer module totals, giving up damage and tackle, while also seing more setups giving up tackle alltogether and seeding out to specialist tackle (Lachs, Bubblers etc) in favour of other electronic support (painters, damps).

These are trends for specific situations you should be mindful of. I'm not necessarily saying they are all bad alterations, and if you do have some fitting issues you should consider some options. However, you should also look at how you intend to fly the ship (in what region, with how many friends and what tactics your FC will use [setting, size, ideal]). The absolute "must" of plugging your em-hole, for example, was far more important when pulse-lasers was more common. Giving up that invul for pure em today is a different story. The same goes for damage, 50dps is negliable if you're in a big gang, yet if you're in a smaller gang it's nothing to scruff at. Most of the time your tank is well sufficient in such settings (facing hostile gangs up to 50 or so).

As always, there's relativity (tank to damage, to mobility, support and support ships).
