Yes, you were refunded part of your fee, something we NEVER do. It only happened because wecouldn't in good conscience take full payment when you never really got your shot at the target you were hoping for. Unfortunately a surrender was offered and it was taken.

It's not a personal thing. Being a merc is about business. We are mercs to make isk and have fun with the pew. Though being a merc isn't always personally lucrative, it does fund the content for members and keeps the fun alive.

I'm sorry about your particular situation, but there isn't a merc in the game that wouldn't have done the same. It's an isk war..plain and simple.

If I had a nickel for every time someone said women don't play eve, I'd have a bag of nickels to whack the next person who said it..

Yes, you were refunded part of your fee, something we NEVER do. It only happened because moods were particularly good that day and you never really got your shot at the target you were hoping for. You have to understand something though. We are mercs. We work for the highest bidder. If a client pays for a war, and the target is willing to pay a larger sum (and we do not share amounts paid by anyone to anyone) to end a war, well, that's what being a merc is about. It's a business. I cannot say for certain what transpired in your case, but typically it's a war of bids. If someone is willing to pay more, then they usually get their way.

Sorry, I thought my review was fair. I wasn't salty about the situation at all. I appreciated the partial refund, but it was still a disappointing service.

No hard feelings, just honest review. Sorry if I offended you or anything.

Edit: Since it was my first merc hiring experience, I just had different expectations. Again, not upset really, just figured I'd give a fair warning to anybody else who might not realize your business model :D

Expectations of what a merc does and what we actually do can be two different things, mercs are a Romanized version outside of this game do what they do for the job life and limb, but this is Eve, a game to be played. The deal struck is not always set in stone, your review is honest and appreciated but please do not think every other merc would be so kind to afford you a refund.

Hire Archetype, Established Highsec Mercs willing to kill everyone and everything for a price.

Perhaps in the selection of current merc corps this is true... But there have been merc corps in EVE who would honour a contract they accepted come hell or high water - and they would *at least* have consulted with the person who hired them prior to accepting a surrender offer and only offering a *partial* refund for services not rendered...

I suppose this means that you can only hire the modern mercenary if you have (and are willing to spend) more isk than your target has - otherwise you are just wasting your time...

Not a personal reflection against A-Type - I'm sure you are correct that any other modern merc corp would do the same - just a general statement.

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

Your explanation is of course understandable, just as it was understandable when Kaely gave it to me at the time. I'm not sure if that was snark I detected at the end, but it's the internet so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Haha.

I can't underline enough, I didn't post this because I was upset or salty, although I'm getting an Amy's Baking Company vibe in return. :D When I hired, I told Kaely I'd leave a review and I did. I felt my review was extremely fair, even pointing out that I received a partial refund and giving Kaely props for being cool (though I left the name out at the time in case she didn't want to be associated with the review).

I didn't want to **** all over your thread with continued comments, I just meant it to be a one-off thing to follow up on what I said I'd do. I'd prefer to stop posting here now, but you guys are more than welcome to shoot me a mail in EVE.
