Hi guys quick question.

How are people moving mats these days for building caps? back in the day you used to compress into guns and then decomrpess and loose a bit at that end but i thought ccp took that option away. so now how are people moving the amounts of mats needed to make cap ships. just wondering

been away from the game for a while.

Mining local not really an option. Minerals/ore will need to be bought and moved becauze of the sheer amount needed.

What our corp did was mine ore and haul it to our compression array in the POS. Depending on the time, the POS was either in high-sec or low-sec. If you are building capitals, it is well worth considering the Thukker component array (which can only be anchored in low sec). Do the math yourself, but that Thukker array can save about 200M per capital built.

Ore compresses very compactly.

thanx for that info off the top of your head can you remmber how many trips it would take to move the compressed ore for a cap build? for say a dread or carrier using a JF or a normal frieghter

thank again

I build carriers using a JF to move stuff. 1 carrier fits in by buying the raw minerals for everything except tritanium, and then buying some tritanium as regular minerals and the remainder as compressed veldspar.

You can fit several carriers into 1 JF if you buy all the ores compressed. But this adds cost since compressed ores are expensive.

You can carry a couple of carriers or one dread in a dst if using compressed ore. Common practice for wspacers.

Oh it's definitely possible if you have enough miners... Used to have a guy in my corp who would mine a dread worth of ore every day or two. Respawning ore anomalies are amazing :P

When I was building freighters I'd compress Veldspar and Scordite for the trit and pyrite. Everything else I'd buy on the market and JF it all into lo-sec to build.

No, I don't recall. We'd use blockade runners to haul the compressed ore. The capital components needed larger haulers since they're all 10k m3 each.
