I'm not 100 percent how you could ever do this without it being exploitable in some way but wouldn't it be cool and add a sorely needed dimension to eve that encourages people to undo and move around. Ever since I started up again I've been seeing and hearing of the burnout. To me this could get station dwellers out into space. Had this idea been tossed around at all?

FW is basically and in theory, "pvp missioning".

if they allowed serpentis events and sansha incursions etc to allow people to support the pirate factions then it would work better imo, especially incursions

Well, alright...perhaps you might be kind enough to explain to us dumb ones what you mean by "pvp missions"? That would be great.

The entire concept of 0.0 Sov Warfare is a 'pvp mission' mechanic. The only difference is your *mission agents* are your corp/alliance/coalition rather than an NPC.

It could work as some '3rd party arranged duel' service , or, for teams, matchmaking.

As an example, take 'Worlds Collide' mission , where you're supposed to rescue a crew of a stranded ship.

PVP version : stranded ship is not a civilian, but , say ,undercover spy vessel.Or runaway mad scientist .Or fugitive royalty with secrets to sell... anyway , onboard is someone or something that two or more factions want.

It means that one mission could be run but on behalf of multiple entities, by many players, in gangs or solo, even more than one player, running this one mission , for the same entity , but separately... I would imagine, that , given proper incentives , competition would be indeed fierce.

Mission itself would be pretty straightforward: got to system X , find the ship, get the cargo/crew.

Mission execution would be different matter, as you would be competing against other player/players :
- do you want to get there fast before everybody else?
- do you need to scan your target down?
- how much cargo do you need?
- will you use brute force or perhaps try to avoid any pew pew altogether ?

And then you will also have to figure out what other people are going to do....

Answers will determine what ship and fit you will use and subsequent success or failure.

Rewards could be scaled accordingly, .i.e. more isk/lp for winning against gang than solo player.

Well, it could possibly get more people into pvp , if that's desired - hi-sec pvp , that is. No point accepting mission in lowsec/nullsec if you don't have muscle to bull your way through gate camps.

Although I think doing such 'pvp mission' would quickly become the usual minmaxing miniprofession , prone to exploits.

Possibly like incursions but worse.

At any rate, careful design and quite sophisticated matchmaking would be required....

So.... ain't happening , mate , sorry.

I'll pay you five million isk if you pod a player in highsec, as long ...
... as he is on the route between Hek and Dodixie ...
... and has a security rating of 3+.

Send the killmail to me via mail and you will be rewarded.

That is all that's needed. The reason why it doesn't exist is because for older players it's not lucrative and newer players get scared away from most types of interaction. I have more ideas too, btw. This is just the simplest one that tests if someone really means it.

Arenas... One of the most sought-after PvP features for players. Loathed by an equal number of players because it offers an alternative in the form of fair, balanced and consensual PvP matches as opposed to station games, gate-camping, kill right insurance scams, ganking and the myriad of other forms of 'PvP'.
