Just going to leave this here....

New Star Citizen Refund Policy

Quick version:

Was:
you agree that any unearned portion of your Pledge shall not be refundable until and unless RSI has failed to deliver the relevant pledge items and/or the Game to you within eighteen (18) months after the estimated delivery date.

Now:
you agree that any unearned portion of your Pledge shall not be refundable until and unless RSI has ceased development and failed to deliver the relevant pledge items and/or the Game to you.

Also in ToS:

For the avoidance of doubt, in consideration of RSI’s good faith efforts to develop, produce, and deliver the Game with the funds raised, you agree that any Pledge amounts applied against the Pledge Item Cost and the Game Cost shall be non-refundable regardless of whether or not RSI is able to complete and deliver the Game and/or the pledge items. In the unlikely event that RSI is not able to deliver the Game and/or the pledge items, RSI agrees to post an audited cost accounting on the Website to fully explain the use of the amounts paid for Pledge Item Cost and the Game Cost. In consideration of the promises by RSI hereunder, you agree that you shall irrevocably waive any claim for refund of any Pledge that has been used for the Game Cost and Pledge Item Cost in accordance with the above.

I didn't back the game. If "Squadron 42" (the single player campaign) is good, i will buy it. As an old "Wing Commander" fan, i will enjoy it to play a good Space Opera. If not, i won't buy it.

I don't doupt that they will deliver the game, the question is if they will deliver the game the backers expected. As allways with such hyped games, there will be LOT's of disappointed backers. Everybody seems to have his own vision of how "his / her" game will turn out which doesn't necessarily match reality. It seems like they "fasten their seat belts" with that change of terms about refunds.

Many promises were made and even if they deliver a good game, the internet will once more show it's ugly face Blink Because "good" is not good enough if you start such a hype machine. But that's the problem of RSI.

Does this change also apply to early backers under the old terms or only to new innocent souls? EDIT... nvm, the article gives the answer.

I stopped following the hype while it was still WiS Citizen. Has it progressed since then?
I'd assume that with the several hundred million they've made off with crowd-sourced, they'd at least have a replica of our solar system for their early access faithful to putz around in.
Or is it still just the dogfight minigame?

I'm glad I only bought the minimum package long ago. I stopped following the thing and just considered my 45 bucks gone. Feel kinda sorry for the ones who sank thousands of bucks into SC.

Now that's a get out clause and a half, they can say that they're still in development indefinitely.

TL;DR if you invested in Chris Roberts' fever dream you're screwed.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Much in the same way as Income Tax is a temporary measure here in the UK to pay for the Napoleonic Wars...

yeah the original TOS stated if they didnt deliver in 18months you could get your money back, they updated the TOS a month before the 18th month. Not a very good business practice.

Problem with Star Citizen is that this game got over-hyped wayyyy too much, now people wait and expect for things they will never have, because it would take several decades to develop properly. Looks like RSI just realized that they won't be able to deliver and they are setting up the defensive options to cover their asses when s*it is going to hit the fan.

Good thing I did not pledge.
