Do Crash Logs Automatically Get Sent?

My game has been crashing a lot the last few weeks. Does a log get sent to CCP when it happens or whats the deal?

No. Crash logs aren't sent unless you provide them as attachments to support tickets.
The forum isn't the support desk.

There's a "send crash logs automatically to CCP" setting, but to answer your question, I have no clue if they actually get sent.

I don't think CCP has ever commented on whether or not they receive these automatic crash logs. And they certainly haven't fixed the crashes since they introduced the big screen adverts in-station.

So we don't know.

Probably not.

Lol, yes crash logs get sent to CCP, though the crash logs aren't as detailed as the logging you can enable on the client manually (the stuff they have you turn on if you participate in the Mass Tests) since a crash log just sends information about the crash, not about your client state leading up to the crash.

That is good info to know for those of us who are "code challenged". I was using LogLite recently after experiencing some local client issues and instantly became overwhelmed with lines upon lines of logged actions. Unfortunately for me, I have no clue what I am looking at. The one thing I found unsettling was all the yellow and red balls with the exclamation marks which I attribute to a knee jerk reaction based upon my ignorance of programming and interpreting the messages. It would be nice if there was a small guide that would give a general explanation for properly using this tool (unless one already exists and I missed it).

Max

Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never. Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

If it helps I don't mind enabling it. Where is the setting at?

Agreed. I've got it running and other than staring gormlessly at the lines of text whipping past I have no idea what I'm looking at. Or how to even submit a bug report using the system. Maybe there is a guide somewhere I've missed. Ideally one on the helpdesk would be useful, possibly under the 'help' menu. The button on the launcher that links directly to bug report/feedback could be duplicated on LogLite perhaps. Either way, there's no point having this if users can't tell wtf to do with it, and it's not really fair to assume we're all techies.

I think:

Turn it on.
Start EVE, try to duplicate your bug or repeat whatever action caused the crash (in my case, sit in station).
Exit EVE when done.
Save the log file.
Create ticket, attach log file.

That seems very technical, can you run it past me one more time

*blinks vacantly*

haha jk, yeh I guess it is reasonably easy enough to figure out, cheers

A quicklink to the bugreport would be nice in there (I really like that feature on the launcher) but it's not a big deal - although I wonder if the process was made super idiot friendly if there wouldn't be more bug reports issued and faster fixes as a result. Normally when I get crashes I just attribute it to dodgy pc and never bother reporting (partly because already irritated over the crash and cbf rummaging around through a lengthy report process). But if it was a couple of clicks I'd autosubmit each one - that might cause a big pile of useless reports but I'm guessing there are metrics in place to filter those out.

Like mine used to, it probably a graphics call to an outside dll, (opencl.dll from Khronos Group was mine)

do a "sfc /scannow" as Win 7 <10 has had some update issues that results in some files getting messed not only the one that effected me.

already dead, just haven“t fallen over yet....
