I got the launcher to stop that stupid popup and load up the shared cache folder only to be met by yet another issue... the launcher goes green after I launch a client then the computer starts to run at max ability for 5 seconds then goes down to 15% cpu usage and 15mb of system RAM usage.

Nothing gets displayed on the screen and the game is sat in the processors running at normal statistics but does not give me anything I can actually use in the form of a client or visual affects it appears the client isn't running at all. Processors state that it is their yet nothing to click to use.

Fresh install and all drives blah.... normal stuff. If system specs are needed I can list them if required

So you're launching the client and nothing happens? or you get a blank screen?

First, I'd suggest going to the launcher menu, choosing Shared Cache... and clicking "Verify" in the window that comes up. You can also use the "Permissions..." button to check and fix permissions issues with those files.

If doing those don't resolve the issue, this procedure (provided by CCP Maxwell) has worked for at least one person with whom I've spoken who had issues with the client not launching after pressing the "play" button:

Quote:
If you go to Settings->Shared Cache Settings and select the 'Show in Explorer Menu', you will get the folder where the resources and binaries are located. Delete the server folders (i.e., tq, sisi, duality). Restart the launcher. The launcher will download these folders again, and hopefully fix the issue.

Do not delete the ResFiles folder unless you want to re-download all of the resources.

none of them things worked it dosent download anything just keeps pushing that notification in my face about permissions and being unable to update anything. I would rather use the old launcher as that never had this issue.

I'm confused. Your last post said:

Are you still seeing a dialog box related to permissions?

Worked for me as well! Thank you very much. I had a similar problem with Windows 10.

neither solution works and now I don't get the game running in the background either just that annoying popup from my first post. eve appears broken and I keep getting told to remove folders which don't exist. the launcher goes to 1% download then popus up the message http://imgur.com/RbfScyk

regardless of what I select I get the exact same message popup with in 5 seconds even after doing the permissions thing. Dosent change a thing.

Every time I hit the permissions thing I get the same popup

no other server folders to remove due to launcher refusing to download anything befor the popup

game worked perfectly fine then the next day this problem appeared.

game is set to run in drx11 not that the game even launches so rather pointless

popup appeared once the old launcher "which worked perfectly fine" was officialy removed.

Copying the files from a working computer dosent change a thing

Trying to use verify dosent do anything as its grayed out and unuseable

Repair isn't downloaded

What fixed it for me was 1.) deleting the server folders and then 2.) going to SharedCache > Properties, unclick read-only, click apply. It will ask for administrator a couple times. Restart launcher, let it re-download servers, and voila! At list when all else had failed that worked for me. Also running LogLite is always very informational if you're having launcher issues Big smile

Trying that. Nobody else having been able to tell me something like this is disturbing.

Actually that did nothing to make a difference for my version of problems with launcher. I get message in upper left "Checking GUI Version..." for way too long then after that Launcher says "please wait..." while indicator bar on bottom is a lifeless gray and nothing happens for hours. Every time I have to reopen launcher this happens.

It would be helpful to know that you guys are actually working on the problem, so please let those of us unable to play the game we paid for at least know you are working on it. Just knowing that is enough right now for me.

w10 user here
Disable windows defender all its options to off mode in my case eve cant launch with it.

PS i havent instaled updates since last month since i set my wi fi as payed connection so it doesnt install updates since one update breaks system for me and have to repair it after that. Could be that one update breaks it if turning off all options on defender dosnt work.

Read only being set on folders like in the user folders and other locations is a common Windows 10 upgrade issue. Blame Microsoft.

CCP best course of action is to just put an auto fix for "Read-only" the same as the permissions prompt. (Read only is a separate flag from permissions on Windows).

This looks like a "permission" problem while your PC account you logg in with cant give the needed rights to the Launcher.
Do you have "User Account Control" active on your pc ? It sometimes can lead to problems installing games and Programms even if you logged in as an Admin ( what you never should do to browse inet at all )

Try to disable the User Account control and then install the game.

Hi,

I've got the exact same issue. Windows defender and my own av are turned of still getting the same popup

Does anyone have a solution?

edit: after the delete servers method, I now have my launcher stuck at "Error! See log for details 0.0%" with the popup.

The verify button is grayed out for me.. please refer to my post below.
