Yeah, need help in the tutorial. For the life of me I can't figure out how to target an enemy ship while in my capsule.

1. I approach the enemy ship
2. I orbit the enemy ship at 500m
3. I try to lock on, but I get error messages telling me my capsule can't lock on, yet the tutorial is telling me to do this

Do I need to go buy a targeting system for this capsule or am I missing something?

Have you tried to board the ship?

Solecist Project...." They refuse to play by the rules and laws of the game and use it as excuse ..." " They don't care about how you play as long as they get to play how they want."

You can't target with a capsule. It's like an escape pod. You need a real ship. Dock in any station and you'll be given a free rookie ship. Board that and undock. Then you can use control click to target, or navigate through the menus.

No problem. The tutorial has some holes. If you have trouble finding your ship I recommend you add the ship hangar icon to your neocom by dragging it to the bar on the left while in station. You can find it in the main menu under inventory while docked.

I tend to lean more towards the "teach a man to fish" than "give a man a fish" theory of question answering. With that in mind next time you are docked right click on your ship and do a "show info" on your ship. Then right click and "leave ship" once in your pod right click again and do another "show info" but this time hold down the shift key while doing the "show info". At that point you should have info open on both a ship and your pod. Go to the "Attributes" tab on both and look under targeting. On your ship you will see a "Maximum Locked Targets" number and on your pod there will not be one. IMHO the pod should have that statistic listed as zero instead of just removing it but at least you can compare the two.

There is a lot of useful info in the "show info" UI. You should get used to going there first if you ever have any questions. Also in Eve there is a saying "if in doubt, right click".

go into your "escape" menu and under the "general settings tab you will find a box with "merge items and ships into the station panel".

Also welcome to Eve, it's good to see brand new players trying out this game.

Feel free to ask any question here, that's the reason for this sub-forum. Just remember, the only dumb question is the one that's not asked.

I suggest doing all the missions for the 5 Career Agent's and train up the Core Fitting Skills. The Career Agents give out ships, skillbooks, modules, etc and give you a quick preview of various career paths available. The missions will also help complete most of the Opportunities objectives.

After completing the Career Agents, do the Level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc. That will allow you time to decide on a Career path and continue training up skills while making some ISK.

Training up the Core Fitting skills will help you a lot. Those will allow you to easily fit up ships which in turn allows you to enjoy the game much sooner.

*Core Fitting Skills*

Acceleration Control - To maximize Afterburner & MWD speed.
Advanced Weapon Upgrades - To reduce turrets and launchers powergrid need.
Afterburner - To reduce Afterburner duration & capacitor need.
Capacitor Management - To maximize Capacitor.
Capacitor Systems Operation - To maximize capacitor recharge rate.
CPU Management - To maximize CPU.
Electronics Upgrades - To reduce sensors & co-processors CPU requirements.
Energy Grid Upgrades - To reduce power modules CPU requirements.
Evasive Maneuvering - To increase acceleration & agility.
Fuel Conservation - To reduce Afterburner capacitor need.
High Speed Maneuvering - To reduce MWD capacitor need.
Hull Upgrades - To maximize armor.
Mechanics - To maximize structure.
Navigation - To increase ship velocity.
Power Grid Management - To maximize powergrid.
Repair Systems - To operate best armor/hull repair modules.
Shield Management - To maximize shield.
Shield Operation - To maximize shield recharge rate.
Shield Upgrades - To reduce shield upgrades powergrid need.
Spaceship Command - To increase ship agility.
Warp Drive Operation - To reduce capacitor need for warp.
Weapon Upgrades - To reduce turrets and launchers CPU need.

These are listed in alphabetical order only, which skill to train first depends on your needs.

I suggest taking them up to level 3 to start, then work on maxing them asap. Don't forget to include the other main / support skills such as specific ship, defense, offense and career oriented skills. Don't just queue up one skill to train multiple levels, queue up multiple skills to train up one level each, that way you'll notice a difference much quicker.

Hope you have a long and rewarding Career here in Eve.

If your mission is to board an unmanned ship, use the rightclick menu, rather than targeting
