What is your preferred spaceship combat doctrine?

Today I found myself wondering about this. As I was analyzing the newest advancements in spaceship technology I had missed while taking some well-deserved planetside holidays, I realized that even though I tend to choose the most appropiate equipment and ship for each task, I have certain preferences I like to keep whenever possible. It might sound silly for this to come as such a big revelation, but given we capsuleers are able to dominate multiple areas of expertise simultaneously and therefore become enormously versatile, we still develop preferences and tend to have our own favourite combat doctrines, which might or might not be the ones favoured by our empire of origin.

In my case, it's drones, thick armor and a not particularly fast ship. I find myself very comfortable commandeering several flights of drones, overseeing their actions and status, while I sit on a tough ship capable of taking much punishment. You could think being Minmatar brings some kind of intrinsic knack for speed, but high-speed manouvering is not exactly my thing. I prefer to be a tough nut to crack whose robotic pets can reach anything, not matter how far away or small. As a result, I have a thing for Gallente and Amarr drone ships, and I've had much success with the Dominix and the Prophecy; right now my goal is to learn about carrier operation and commandeer actual fighters, and I'm highly intrigued about SoE and Guristas doctrines. About other weapon systems, I find myself most comfortable with railguns, artillery and missiles, but only as secondary firepower.

Now I'm curious to know, my fellow capsuleers, what are your preferences when it comes to combat, if you have any? Are they in accordance with your empire of origin, or have you developed your own style?

What my preference is really depends on where I'm deployed. For plex warfare and for the most part lowsec in general it's my autocannon armed wolf hands down, though I find myself leaning towards my Comet or slicer frequently and my arty Jaguar if I know it would be more useful. Nullsec for organized fleet warfare it's usually my stilletto (I just about always fly tackle so it's a given), roaming would be my blaster fit Harpy or autocannon Jaguar. Highsec I don't bother with so no real preference (stilletto usually when I'm there). Wormholes I avoid like the plague so nothing either. Bombers I won't get into because I'm wierd about them...

Well, I am Gallente, and I do use drones quite a bit, but I fit more like a Caldari. Even my drones are Caldari models.
I never really got into hybrids, there was a time that I used lasers because of the low ammo consumption rate.
Since I'm pretty much a pacifist these days, I tend to have my own style.

If it active tanks, has webs, and/or is multi-propped, I'm happy. ECM is an added bonus, and I really wish jammers were viable on a broader range of hulls.

I fly Electronic Warfare platforms almost exclusively. I am not a front line brawler. The Falcon, and the predecessor the Blackbird are my faviorate ships. It takes quite a bit of skill, as I am almost always the first to be targeted by the enemy. But I love the feeling of having a successful run.

Some call me insane. If the universe is sane, then I embrace that label.

Whatever kills enemy of the State fast enough without giving them a chance to escape is my preferred doctrine.

Unfortunately, this is as much detail as I am willing to reveal today.

Kiting drone boats if I have my say. I love the Algose, both it's look and functionality. The Dragoon is a good boat too, I'm currently playing with fits on that one. Those aside I tend to fly frigates of Gallente or Amarrian design such as the comet or slicer. If the fleet allows it, I will forgo the role of tackle and fly a Nano kite Tristan. I really want to try out a battleship fleet though, as it's something that I trained for while I was in scope works, but I never got to do it.

A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.

If it doesn't have both Missiles and Drones in tandem, I'm not interested! And shields too!

That boils down to the best ships in New Eden then! Care to guess what ships I'm talking about?

Beyond a general preference (personally) to shields over armor, no specific preferred doctrine. All combat requires adaptation.

Avoidance. It's a doctrine that's close to my heart :)

Incoming unpopular opinion Combat usually gets in the way of other things that I'd rather be doing, so my main doctrine is to end or get out of battles as quickly and neatly as possible. So cloaks, ECM, web stabs, missiles, drones, and speed are my some of my best friends. They understand my need maximize my lounging and drinking time while minimizing the needless expense of weaponry and ammo.

When in combat - I like to park my ship behind the biggest badest megadeath machine blue to me,Pirate

I also like to name my ship something discreet like "lost drone" to avoid attention and priority targeting. Idea

10% shield loss means unwanted attention and warp-away.Arrow

Spamming blobs of cheap cormorants and dunking on expensive ships 5x their size and 20x their cost, at 100km, is oddly satisfying to me. Even if they get in range and take out half our fleet, chances are we still lost less than 100m and destroyed much more than that.

I also know from being on the other end of that equation that this is a very frustrating tactic to deal with, and annoying your opponent causes them to make rash decisions.

Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole. And this foundation must be defended.

At any cost

Golden Fleet. I'm in Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris!

Beyond that.. adapation as needed using Amarr hulls.
