With the Carrier line being split between good ol' fashion DPS carriers and Force Auxiliary carriers, why do the DPS carriers require Logistic and remote repair skills in order to obtain a higher mastery rank?

Seems kind of silly that i would have to have the skills to use a Triage module for a rank on a ship that can't fit one anymore.

is this intentional, or merely a small detail that slipped through the cracks of the past expansion?

100% it is a small detail that slipped through the cracks. The Mastery system hasn't really been iterated on much since they first put it in.

I personally love the system.
It's a great way to show a newbro or someone who isn't familiar with a ship class what skills help the performance of it.

Because CCP created then abandoned "mastery ranks" because they were silly and pointless to begin with.

idk about pointless. I was a good summary of skills for a ship.

Yeah, but beyond lvl 1, it's pointless.

CCP never put the ship class skill in the mastery table for that ship. Seems like the obvious wasn't that obvious.

many of the ship mastery certificates have skills required on them that are completely pointless to train unless you want to use a very specific fit for the ship, they're not really that good of a guide because of that

Up to Mastery III seems to be about 'that ship' and it's class with some other generic stuff that will either work with other ships of the class/race or with any other ship. Beyond Mastery III it's really about specializing in some ways or going wider. It gets kind of eclectic and erratic at that point. I use everything up to level III to give me a good metric to know what is usually okay to know for a ship of that class and size. Beyond that it's almost entirely useless.
