I'm new to these here parts of the woods. I was reading FoxFour's farewell thread and it sounds like he pretty much provided crest.

Do we have any feel for cpp's plans? Will losing a champion of crest/3rd party support pretty much back burner crest?

I wasn't the first person at CCP to work on APIs and when I left CCP there were more people invested in providing API's (and maintaining them) than I think ever before at CCP.

CCP Tellus, CCP Bartender, and CCP SnowedIn are all directly involved in working on new APIs and maintaining the existing ones. On top of that their manager, CCP Chimichanga, is super happy to have them working on the APIs and supports them spending the time they need to for the work required. If that isn't enough the EVE Online executive produce, CCP Seagull, is a huge supporter of all the work we all did on the APIs.

I should mention that was the state of it as I left. I cannot imagine it changed much in the last few weeks though.

With all of that said I think the future is bright for EVE Online's third-party development community. :)

<3 Foxfour. He did a lot of good work for us.

I'm talking with people on Team Techco on a reasonably regular basis, which is good Smile

Sure, they're not working as fast as I'd _like_, but I have to admit, I'm being entirely unreasonable with that. "What do you mean, you have to sleep?!"

Woo! CSM XI!

Yeah, but up until you showed up here in the forum and introduced yourself, the API devs often went MIA for quite long periods of time. I don't know (and won't speculate) if that was due to them or their "uppers". But we 3rd party devs spent literally years without any dev passing by here and give out infos/responses or fix obvious bugs.

Your appearance in the API team has changed that remarkably (again: I won't speculate as to why). And it seems to have set good precedence. The guys you name, CCP Tellus et al, doing equally well in terms of interacting with us 3rd party devs.

Keep it that way, guys! Smile

The biggest example was the lack of a blueprints API, which was just awesome when it got added.
