My friend told me to post on the forums as the worm hole I've found is worth something and he said that the community will be more honest than the greedy vet's in the help chat!

So, I found a R051 wormhole. Is it worth selling the coordinates on? I'm simply buying up T1 frigates, fitting them with data and relic analysers, cloaking device and probes. Cheap and cheerful to get the basics of exploration.

Any money made from it is welcome. Thanks

Welcome to wormholes.

Unfortunately co-ordinates (bookmarks) leading to a wormhole are rarely worth anything. The exception being if you find a wormhole entrance to a specific system that a group of people really want to find. eg for invasion purposes or they lost the entrance to their home etc.

The wormhole you scanned down R051 leads to a low class system. You can find the codes here - http://www.ellatha.com/eve/wormholelist.asp. It will last for approximately 16 hours.

Good luck, keep exploring and remember to press dscan regularly.

Short answer: no. it's highly unlikely to be worth anything.

Slightly longer answer: that R051 leads to a Low Security system and it can fit a Battleship or Freighter through it, but not a Dread, FAUX or Carrier (max jump mass of 1b kg).

Now, depending where this hole starts and finishes, someone may have a use for it. Finding that someone is unlikely to happen via these forums before the hole collapses. Finding someone who has a use for it AND is willing to pay you is even less likely.

When most people 'sell' Wormholes, they're selling the entrance bookmarks into a J-Space system that is otherwise unoccupied. A nice 'hole with useful statics and planetary resource mix can sell for a pretty penny. The downside, for the explorer, is they need to keep a scanning alt in the hole until they sell it.

Assuming this isnt a troll, which im not ruling out, two things:

1. Do NOT post sales threads in this forum, they go in the market forums (see relevant sticky thread).
2. Your WH is not worth anything.

Thanks all for the answers, I'll continue to explore! Really enjoying it at the moment, just not finding much stuff sadly.

I'm assuming it's a good route to go into as people actively do it? However, my fear is I only made 600k isk spending 45 mins 'exploring'. Finding one data site.

I however made 1.4mil isk mining in 20 minutes in a much safer environment.

@Jack Milton, thanks for your answer, but no, this isn't a troll. There are new players in this game too just looking for advice, and does it look like I'm selling? No, I'm not, I'm asking for advice as a new player... Don't act like a child.

Firstly, I would recommend reading up on stickys to get some basic knowledge on different classes, mechanics and how to navigate within a wormhole.

Exploring is a broad term and covers a lot of activity from basic scouting and bookmarking, to actively looking for opportunities. Most players associate exploring with doing hacking sites in c1-3space (guide: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Hacking_101 ) I think this is a good way for new players to start. As it doesn't requirer a lot of training, isk, and the payout for newer players is worthwhile, once you get some experience.
Other opportunities that you can come across include: offline pos, ratting ships, other explores, gateway to ded sites in null and low, floating mtu etc. will require different set of skills and ships. Eg. You find a offline pos with modules of value (sma, cha, etc.) You will need ship to blow up the modules and afterwards have another ship to carry any loot that may have dropped. I would recommend joining a explorer or wormhole corp to have a base to stage off and to have some friends help you out with tips + support when needed.

I'm going off what this topic was originally about, but if you want to make ISK in WHs, this is my advice.

Start gas mining. Fit a probe launcher to a venture (recommended fit below), scan down gas sites and mine away. NOTE: rats show up 15 minutes from when you first warp to a gas site, so always warp to them at 100k first in case someone else already spawned it. Start mining, keep d-scanning to watch for unfriendlies, and when rats do show up after 15-20 minutes, warp out immediately. You will have 10-15 seconds after they show up to warp out before they start to attack, so you will be fine to escape.

You can make 1 million ISK/cycle of gas harvesters in WHs with a venture, and you're only risking a ship worth 8 million ISK, so its a great way to make money (for me, it's literally the only way I make ISK anymore)

recommended fit:

High:
Gas Cloud Harvester II x2
Core Probe Launcher I, Sisters Core Probes x8

Mid:
5MN Microwarpdrive
Small Shield Extender
1MN Afterburner

Low:
Warp Core Stabilizer II

Rigs:
Small Core Defense Field Extender I x3

Relic sites generally pay out better than data sites. Make sure you are running the faction sites, not the sites that have rats in them. If you warp to a site and see red "+'s warp out immediately.

When someone ganks you while you are playing the mini-game, don't get mad - enjoy the excitement and then buy another ship.

Don't forget to create a bookmark as soon as you jump in the WH.
