They need more to it than the same old fly in, kill everything, use gate, kill everything etc. With the occasional grab this quafe.

Give more options based on the story and your lineage / affiliation with the group being interacted with - maybe use standings....

Maybe a stealth option to stealthy fly in and rob the group affected..

Lots of options out there besides just kill everything....its so 2003...

lets expand on it, build in the stories with missions...something!

While all of that sounds great, you can also change how you run the missions to break up the boredom as well. For example, fleet up with a couple of corp mates and run level 4 missions in Frigates. Can also do the same thing with Exploration sites.

This game is all about how you approach and engage the content that's currently available.

Level IV in frigates, wow, that would keep you on your toes.

Level 4's in s frigate group is easy and it can be a lot of fun.
Level 4's in frigates solo is extremely challenging.

As DMC notes changing how you approach them is the key to making them not so boring. Change ships, change fits, change tactics all help to alleviate some of the boredom.

There is a single pool of missions, running for a different agent from a different NPC will change up the sub set of missions that you get out of that pool. The same goes for changing the area of space you are flying missions in, you will get a different sub set in Gallente space than you will in Amarr space.

Seek, find and help new to the game players as the come up through the missions. Some of the most fun times I have had were running level 1 or 2 missions with new players, their enthusiasm due to it being new an different adds a significant amount of fun back into the grind.

Agreed, OP. More variety wouldn't be a bad thing.

That being said, there is actually a bit of somewhat-different pve content out there for folk to try.

Check out the 'The Plan' link in DMC's signature for some of it.

Missions need more variety to spice them up.
Bonus rooms you have to hack your way into, not use a tag key. More risk/reward.

Abandon mission running as a profession and instead get into scanning MTUs down and blowing them up. Fun, and very therapeutic.

go run them in low/null

more risk/reward

I was going to say that. Lowsec mission running i think is pretty much non existent. I use to run missions out of mordu in pure blind several years ago. Those missions pay a lot better than high sec and are a bit more thrilling.

If you want some real excitement, I highly recommend running missions in Tama or Rancer.

Lots of people run missions in lowsec, fit up a rattlesnake and run lvl 5's then report back again if they become "too easy" for you Big smile

You've been provided with an opportunity to make regular, easy money in hisec with little risk and in a predictable fashion, and that's not enough?

What next? Sentient asteroids that tell you amusing anecdotes whilst you mine to stop you from feeling suicidally bored?

Stop running missions altogether (except for standings) and get into Incursions.

Similar enough to missions yet as group content a step into the right direction (you know, living, breathing being interactions and stuff).
Who knows, next time you might even join Faction War (they do have - sort of - missions there as well, I heard)....

The old advice in the noob npc corp is: you need to be smarter than the game.

OP wants the game to be smarter, more challenging. OP does not want to change anything about themselves, about their game play.

I am with DMC on this. CCP might add pve content or not, but OP does not have to wait for it, OP can try doing other things, including playing with other people.

The problem is that almost every time CCP tries to improve PVE with new mechanics and stuff, it fails (Drifters, very few people screw with them) or under-delivers (incursions, something only a small percentage of players actually fool with). Since I've been playing CCP has added those 2 things I mentioned, plus epic arcs and pirate epic arcs, level 5 missions (which were only really popular when a bug allowed them to spawn in adjacent high sec systems), wormholes (which have pve but only attract a super small slice of PVE players) and more.

All the stuff that's been done to PVE in the last 7-8 years, and still most of us who do combat style PVE are running missions, anomalies and complexes born in the 2003-2006 era. By Choice , because while PVErs say they want new stuff, their actions demonstrate that they want tried and true stuff. The only halfway successful additions to PVE in the last few years are modifications/upgrades to existing content ie Burners for missions, Dread Spawns for anomalies etc and Crimson Harvest (the follow on events haven't been as nearly well received and CH was).

CCP should look at what we actually do and improve on that, not waste time with the fanciful stuff people ask for on forums but that even forum people won't do for long. If CCP put in new pve content tonight most of us would be right back to saving damsels and clearing havens of npcs a couple days later after we exhausted the new stuff.

I already run them in Null and its still boring. I do many other things for isk besides just running missions - but teh fact of the matter is they are the same thing over and over since what.......Beta as long as i can remember.

why cant we add mroe things to it like hacking - utlilize the skill. Or use hacking to unanchor starbases and capture that shiny faction topwer sitting in a wormhole for the past 3 months.

add a option to stealth it. I know not all require a blow everything up, but at least 90% of them do...

Some variety would be nice for the newer players coming into the game.

People...

I have been in this game since beta....There isnt much I havent tried.

I have alts like anyone else to PvP, incursion, WH etc. All i am saying is arent missions due for an upgrade?

something to help keep newer players as well - more story besides the basic Story arcs or hi sec whatever those are called for Amarr and Minnys....bah forgot the name of them but they were cool a long long time ago...
