Well, Cider started up just fine — until I tried to launch the IGB. CCP, if you're not going to fix the damn IGB, please just get rrid of it.

That's their plan, once crest works and replaces all IGB functions.

I've noticed (using wine, windowed mode, Yosemite), that when I'm using mouse clicks to give focus to the Netflix I'm watching and back to the EVE client - that sometimes the EVE client does not get full focus (mouse clicks fail to work). When that happens, if I command-tab away from the EVE client and then back, full focus is restored and mouse clicks start working in the client again.

Is this a known issue? If not - can you reproduce or do you need logs?

First of all let me thanks CCP for supporting Wine on Mac.

For the last 3-4 years I have been preaching to all my fellow Mac Eve players to forget about the Mac client and use Wine instead because of the better experience.

When the Wine support was launched I download the Eve Mac client launcher again and tried and although it worked ok, it was still slower and with lower visual quality than my current Wine setup (never understood why since the graphics parameters in the settings were the same).

However in this latest version of the Launcher you can actually select the Wine version and I selected the 1.9.10 (been using the 1.9.7 in my installation) and I got the game in the same quality!!!!

Thanks a lot for that. Looking forward for the Wine DX11 support and see for the first time the new POS setup effect (preferably before the POSes removal from the game). Big smile

I have this issue all the time. More so on my main than my alt. Have to click a different window. Something to do with wine I would assume.

i first heard about the potential change from Cider to Wine at FanFest this year. At the time, I didn't know what that meant. It sounded Ok, but I couldn't picture the difference. Fast forward to today ...

The change to wine has been a significant improvement to my gaming experience on the Mac. Eventually, I'll upgrade my laptop, but this has really been a positive experience. I was starting to have performance issues with cider, and I don't have the same issues with wine. I didn't know that my visual experience was crappy until I played on a better Alienware machine. Now with wine, I'm much closer to my experience on the PC.

I'm on a 2012 MBP running the latest OS X. I have not run into the same issues that others have mentioned. i followed the directions to enable wine, and everything worked well.

Been 2 weeks since I switched over to Wine. And for the most part I've figured out all the little differences in how things work under it. (unpinned all the windows that seem to have pinned themselves and such) However there is one item that is seriously bugging me. A large number of item icons are just flat out missing. I do alot of research and BPC copy and its a serious pain when I pull up industry and see a bunch of blank squares. How do I force a refresh of icons??

Probably just need to reset your games cache files.

@CCP Snorlax (or other Mac Devs)

Was looking at the beta info for Wine, had some stuff that looked like DX11 support features! A little beyond what my brain can understand this morning. So just wondering if we could get an idea or some feedback on how the changes are coming for our favorite client.

Which wine version? And does CCP launcher offer/support it.
Guess I just want more details.

Edit: used what I could from the launcher and it remained DX9

Used Latest(not development (development don't give me use cmd like ctrl)) wine version from CCP and disable "Run with DX9", work all shield and armor effects, propulsion effects doesn't. Play on hi graphic with low shadows and medium shaders.

P.S. OS X 10.11.6 beta4

I did that and when I use the alt-f command it showed DX9 as the driver. And like 22-40 FPS.

It has been a few days (weeks) since we have heard from our CCP Snorlax! Just wanna know how things are going on the development side.

And wanna know if you need any testers for updated wine versions

I've been on vacation, just got back to work yesterday, hence my radio silence. With my batteries fully charged I'm now investigating the sticky control key issue.

Oh. Glad to hear your back and fully charged. And yeah, sticky control is crazy.

Its not just the control key. The shift key sticks too. It happens to me every time I loot the can in the shipyard site (the Serpentis event site).
100% reproducible. I select the can, click the open icon, click the loot button.

Its like the client does the equivalent of holding down the shift key to select everything in the can, then forgets to release the shift key.

Tapping shift will fix it.

CCP guys, do you ever played on Mac client? It crashes with buffer overflow every second alt-tab I make.
Another issue, character customization - after selection of clothing shader effects disable completely and everything except eyes turns black.

Yes, we do, but it may not be on a system exactly like yours, or with the same settings as you have.

Please give us more details by filing a bug report and we will investigate.

Are you playing under Wine? Many players report improved stability after switching to the Wine wrapper as described in the first post in this thread.

I know the character customization defaults to low/medium grade settings on the mac no matter what. probably driver issues. when DX 11 finally shows up all the way. we might get lucky

speaking of DX 11. how is that coming Snorlax?
