Frigate Tackle for new player help needed

What's a good frigate tackler for a new person wanting to experience pvp with a group?
Obviously I don't have all the skills for expensive ships, but want to be able to help out and long range, fast tackle something for others to destroy.

Any suggestions or fits would be helpful!

Thanks!

That depends on what you can fly now. All empire's frigate lines have one with a bonus to a long point, those are the ones you want to fly.

The Caldari Condor for example is one of those but I don't know the other empire ones. All of those want a mwd on them and of course a long point, as in warp disruptor.
Thanks you the recent module refreshment, any of those ones will do fine and if you want to maximize your survivability a little, the Condor also wants a Medium Azeotropic Restrained Shield Extender I on and a Quad LIF Restrained 5MN MWD on.

Now you have one medium slot left and you can either fit a stasis webifier or warp scrambler, ask your mates what they would prefer.
For the lows I would fit a damage control, the meta one is fine and a nanofiber.

The Condor is not made to deal much damage and the only thing you have to fear are drones, Interceptors and the other ships of your class.
For drone defense you can either fit 3x rocket launcher or if they fit 3x light missle launchers, depending on your powergrid and skills. Rockets will alway fit. Shoot evil drones with them.

For the armor tanked ones I recommend a small ancillery rep and the turrets you get the bonus for, your base job is to hold a target with the warp disruptor and orbit until your buddies arrive.

Now go out and hold something down.

This question has an easy answer if you do a quick Google search, but I'll say a few words. Each race has a fast and agile frigate, such as the Condor for Caldari. If you 'show info' on these ships (or any ship) the 'traits' tab will explain thru bonuses what that ships best role is. Check the Eve University website for fits and tactics. And bookmark it while you are there, it's a great resource that will keep you from asking a question that's

The Slasher from the Minmatar frigate lineup is pretty sweet as tackle frigates go.
The (in)famous Derp'tron is another one.

If I might make a small suggestion:
Tackle is actually a pretty hard role to master and it's pretty integral to a fleet. Flying suicide tackle where you expect to get volleyed off field in short order isn't much fun.
If you find a regular group to fly with, look at bringing some EWAR capability. The Maulus with its damps can be a game changer. The Crucifier with tracking and guidance disruption can shut down an opponents ability to deal damage. Given that EWAR frigates can operate at range, you have a (slightly) better chance of survival.

Can you recommend a good Maulus fit to run with small gangs to help out? I assume you let the fleet warp ahead first, then you warp to a mate and keep in optimal range to damp and align away if **** hits the fan? :)

Here's a little something I wrote a little while back on the topic: EWAR for Newbies!

Your Rules Of Engagement are as follows:
Rule 1: STAY ALIVE! <- This is your PRIME DIRECTIVE! STAY ALIVE!
Rule 2: Annoy the enemy.
(In that order.)
Bounce off grid as soon as you start getting locked up.

Really good article to read. I learned a lot.
What's your thoughts on the Navy Maulus?

If you want to go "balls-to-the-wall" crazy you might want to take a look at the Atron.

God I love that ship!

[Atron, DERPTRON]
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Damage Control II

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive
Faint Epsilon Scoped Warp Scrambler

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
[empty high slot]

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I
[empty rig slot]

- Fit it accordingly. If you don't have the skills to use a certain mod, refit it with a variant you can use.

- This fit is geared equally towards tackling and DPS.
----- A group of these ships is very deadly (due to the relatively high damage output) and a lot of people will run from such groups.

thank you!

I think the Navy Maulus is an awesome, and comparatively cheap, tackle frigate that can fill it's role very well with only a modest SP investment. It's completely outclassed by the Keres. A Triple Damp + Scram Keres is something I generally keep onhand to tackle Orthrusii with. Nothing quite like damping an Orthrus' lock range down to under my Scram range Twisted

not to be too pedantic, but Derptrons use a medium shield extender. I do love the Dual Prop'tron fit tho.
Dual Prop ALL the Tackle Frigates! Especially Dramiels and Firetails :)

I like the scramble bonus on the navy version. As others mentioned, this ship isn't bonused for sensor damps, a crucifier is much better for that. One MNI tackle fit you may be interested in is:
[Maulus Navy Issue, tackles]
Drone Damage Amplifier I
IFFA Compact Damage Control
Type-D Restrained Overdrive Injector
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive
Faint Epsilon Scoped Warp Scrambler
Fleeting Compact Stasis Webifier

75mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S
75mm Prototype Gauss Gun, Antimatter Charge S

Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Hobgoblin I x5
Warrior I x5

You may leave the guns off because you'll want to orbit what you tackle close enough that they can't hit you, which means you probably can't hit them either. The term for this is "flying under their guns."

Navy maulus is more of an advanced combat frigate, not an ewar support ship.
