Eve Advertising Blitz

Well, maybe not that much of a blitz, but I just ran into an Eve ad at Cracked.Com, and I was wondering was that appropriate? Those people over there are a bit whacked (except me, of course) and the question is should Eve ads be displayed in such a whacky sort of venue? Or it could just be that Google pretty well runs that universe and they are simply targeting my whacky posterior?

Probably a re-marketing banner. You come to Eveonline.com and the ads appear on different sites you frequent.

There's actually quite a bit of Eve related content at cracked, it features regularly in their "biggest [short form of Richard] moves in online gaming" articles so it sort of makes sense to advertise there.

There again it's just as likely to be google being its usual advertising overlord self.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I think you need to educate yourself on how online advertising works.

I suspect that everybody here knows exactly how online marketing works but it makes for a delightfully humorous forum thread. But there are those who take everything written in an internet forum serious, which, to stretch the definition of the word a bit, is a variant of paranoia.

You mean... should ads about a game known for insane min/maxing, spreadsheets, suicide ganking, espionage, corporate heists that affect hundreds of people negatively, inconceivable meta-gaming, unrestricted warfare, and general "see the world burn" mentality be displayed on a site known for making fun of the excesses and absurdities of humanity?
