Does anyone here run Synergy to synch 2 or more PCs?

If so, has anyone experienced the death of mouse-click on a slave PC when an eve client is opened on the Server PC?

I use Synergy exclusively to slave 4 computers together. I basically didnt want to pay for IsBoxer. But then Synergy went pay to download too later on Roll

There has been some weird stuff going on and the guy that does Syngery, Nick Bolton, has sent out emails to people asking about it. Contact the Synergy team with a detailed email to do a bug report imo would be the best bet.

Other than that it might be CCP snooping around for different things like input automation/broadcasting or even Microsofts new anti hacker software that they are trying to install onto all Windows machines.

Synergy has the capability to DO input broadcasting. I used it a few times years ago back when it was still legal. So I would assume that this would be the area that CCP would want to look at the most or closest. The grey area of being able to facilitate elevated gameplay is the EULA sections theyd want to look into the most and personally I dont blame them. Yet Synergy, standard vanilla, only does what you would normally do but from one keyboard and mouse instead of how many computers you slave together. So it lets you share the multiple monitor space easier.

I love it frankly. Multiple Monitors with Multiple Computers It allows you to share the workload nicely. Btw this is what happens when you get bored with regular Eve. Lol

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

The scotch tape with teriyaki sticks is a nice "high tech" touch with that config.

Which is breaking the EULA since CCP clarified their stance on the input broadcasting.

If you read about Synergy at all the main the most popular use of it is as a Virtual KVM switch so most people do not even use it for input broadcasting

No idea what input broadcasting is, but I use Synergy to play eve on one while I work on the other... (from home!)
Yep... I get the Nick Bolton emails too... he's debugging for a new release as far as I can tell.

...just read this... Input Broadcasting

.. but I'm still no wiser as to what it is.

Input broadcasting is when you can use 1 keyboard/mouse to drive 2 or more computers (or programs) at the same time. Press F1 and multiple instances of EVE activate their weapons. Controlling your own fleet with a single keyboard/mouse.

This is NOT like a KVM switch, where the keyboard/mouse gets "attached" to each computer you switch to, with the other computers being disconnected when not switched.

I've had this issue with Synergy in general when there are mismatched UAC/elevation levels between the windows involved. Try making sure none of the windows are being run as admin in your particular case.

For only 6 monitors I'd think it would be cheaper/easier to just use 1 PC with multiple graphics cards... EVE isn't really that much of a resource hog, particularly if you turn the settings down a little (because lets face it with 6 monitors you don't need all the high res details) - though even on max res it isn't that bad by modern standards.

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

Yes, in fact I have spent about the same for the 4 as I would have a high end system really. I had thought of doing this but this affords me the ability to tinker with boxes and do my own upgrades and such which is really what started this entire thing along with seeing Khromokor or however you spell his name years ago. I just had a spare box and parts laying around and kinda said wth and it well.... grew into the monster. Then it was seeing how cheaply I could do it. Id pick up old computers from a university we used to do a lot of construction work for as they upgraded their systems. Just add a video card and it was fine for eve.

I had considered doing the triple card a while back when I started to get back into flight sims as it would be easier to spread the screens then for a sorta wrap around effect but I never bothered. In the end it was just fun to do and try. Set goals, smash them!! style.Blink

Side note to several other posters...

Yes its a KVM switch but CAN do broadcasting but it must be turned on and off. So as long as you are not using that its just the same as having dual or triple monitors on one computer. So no EULA violations if your just using it that way. I still have all 4 keyboards and mice around as under certain conditions or if Synergy messes up you have to manually reinput stuff or if you need admin rights to install stuff.

Synergy is quit handy, Especially if you Have multiple accounts over several computers.

As for what your talking about, When EVE Starts up it may starting as Admin and Synergy cannot transfer over whilst its doing its loading. I experience the same issue you are talking about but it goes away when the client is loaded.
