Most efficient PvE combat site ship

Hello Everyone!!!!

My question is, is there a good efficient ship that can run combat sites no trouble. Currently I'm using a gila with rapid lights doing fairly well with it. My question is is there a 'better' PVE ship that could run combat sites faster or more efficiently? I was thinking of the Ishtar but not sure. I go against Serpentis NPCs.

I'm not sure where your skills are (though I've seen you post in another thread you fly a Tengu and Rattler).

Johnny Pew made a nice video about a Cerberus he uses with HAM's. I've used it myself and it knocks out up to 4/10 combat sites very quickly.

My skills for this character fall more in the line of 9M SP in missiles and 7M SP in drones mainly. For my other alt that I use it's abilities go into 10M SP in gunnery/ 8M in drones

Gila is a good ship - especially with your skills. Stratios would give flexibility to go to low easier with cov-ops but would not be faster. Ishtar would save on ammo.

combat site is a pretty broad term, you'll get better answers if you specify what exactly you are doing

Tengu is your best jack of all trades, as long as you have the skills for it.

Certain ships do better than the tengu in specific areas.

The kind of sites your are hitting plus your skills are going to drive this. Gila is my general "work horse" with just shy of 800 dps and a monster tank It it mows down the 4-6 out 10s I run with it. Recently also took it into some C2's and it was okay.

However, I run two gilas on anything over 6/10. I just got my tengu to a point that I can try it out in the same conditions. My skills have been too low for it to compete until now.

Looking at doing combat sites vs Serpentis and also going into WH's and going against sleepers as well once in a while. My goal is to be able to do 6/10's - 9 maybe 10/10's Solo preferably or dual 10/10 if I have too.

Been looking at the Tengu pretty hard as well since they have good dps and insane reps.

As many have already said, there are a good many Combat Site types. If you're looking to be able to run all kinds, rated DED and un-rated, without a great amount of restrictions, I would highly suggest a pirate or navy faction ship.

My personal favorite is the Stratios. Due to its tech 1 status, it can enter some of the lower DED sites where its T2, or T3 compatriot could not. It's also a favorite for its ability to cloak and delve into low-sec with relative safely.

Now it's not necessarily the fastest in terms of running the specific site, but its ability to be shield buffer or active armor tank lend itself to a variety of skill points trained. I've found that it saves me overall route time when low-sec is involved. Being able to travel cloaked, and to create safes to scan from and the like, I find the time saved with the cloak makes up for overall site clearance.

I solo warped into Asakai, and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. - Dante Burke

Well a RattleSnake is pretty good all round and not super expensive. You can run C4 WHs solo in it and I'm sure DED sites would be pretty easy as well (DPS to break towers in the higher sites may be an issue).

The issue will be is with the GTFO factor so it comes down to how you work. Running Sites from Blue Null, and Whs that might be in system no problem. Running around in active Low sec or contested Null and you are asking for issues.

You may also need a different fit for different sites. A 6/10 would be a cake walk and you could most likely just fit or max DPS. C4s require a full passive regen fit.

The gurista 6/10 is so straight forward a sniping sentry vexor could do it - ie not all 6/10s are the same type of thing and serpentis doesn't actually have a 6/10, it has the unrated logistical outpost, which is something you should probably research before aiming for it. it has a guarenteed escalation, but relative to gurista its multiple encounters in multiple places and harder encounters, its a lot slower to complete.

I've done the serpentis 5/10 on this (relatively low sp) character a few times with a solo stratios - stratios can cheese the ded 5s web trap with the cloak and its cloak warp is sufficient for risk averse player safety for moving around in lowsec. its just a bit too slow slugging through the battleship hitpoints is all.

For nullsec encounters on my old character I always used the proteus, because it was the t3 I could fly, and the nullifier/mobile depot combo allows it to move relatively safely, yet have the firepower/tank for the encounters. Tengu for null if you can fly it imo.

Mhm... so Gila, Rattlesnake, Vexor, VNI, Ishtar, and the Tengu is what I'm seeing mainly.
Gila and Rattlesnakes I know how to fit, the Vexor, VNI, and Ishtar are questionable... But do you generally make it a passive tank or active tank? I've seen both but was wondering if one was better or the other was better or just user preference?

And for the Tengu, going with heavy missiles good or should I am for heavy assault missiles? The reason I bring this up is I can move out to around 66-70km and hit them with heavy missiles, or go for the heavy assault missiles that I have to be within 25km?

i prefer hml for pve, good for that extra range when you need it

Alright I was thinking of going that route since I found a few different tengu hml fits that look pretty promising. What is the dps that you need to tank for 9/10's or 10/10's? Just trying to get a ball park number of each one to see how high I could go with a tengu fit that I have currently.

Or I should say is there a website that has the DED missions and dps that you must tank per site?

The tengu is awesome, good range with hams, perma tanks a room in 10/10 and dps not too shabby either (impants).

For anoms- something that can barely tank a spawn and has max dps/ application. 1.5k dps Rattle 2 tracking computers with precision script to apply 100% to battleships and sentries to blap frigs should push some dank isk.

2k dps shield Vindicator and a second boat as support even better isk. Get a friend or two and pretend to be a ratting carrier.

Do you by chance have a fit for a Tengu that can tank 10/10's?

For the Rattle are you using rapid heavy's? Or Torpedoes?

The Vindicator might be worth while, but never fitted one before, do you have a fitting to base off of to look at?

All of these really help!

The gila is good for high and low sec sites. I can run 5/10 sites in a hawk assault frigate(albeit its slow)
I speed tank a vexor navy issue, but ive only done anoms with them never sites. It should do fine in 6\10 and lower though

I use a rattlesnake exclusively in null. I passive tank mine ( im lazy and prefer to passive tank when i can) . Using Cruise it puts out around 1300 dps with 1250 dps tank against guristas/serpentis or 1200 dps with a 1675 dps tank. I use heavies and let the drones tank a bulk of rats. T2 heavies tank rats really well, though i carry faction heavies as well in case i really need to tank something. as they have about the same HP as an empty BC hull.

Letting my drones tank frees up my own tank, a 1000 dps tank on my ship is enough for a majority of null encounters. Only the toughest 10/10s require a heavier tank for me. and that requires swapping a few damage mods SPR. swap two BCUS for 2 shield power relays and i go up to a 3000 dps tank and still hitting 1000 dps. Max tank 5600 dps and still pushing 800 dps outBig smile And im not even using x type hardeners( though i should as they are dirt cheap). That would push 14000 dps tank overheated in case you need to tank a dread.

idk about that fantasy 14k dps tank Rattlesnake.... Gila can do a 10/10 with 180 ehp/s tank (and a bit of overheating in last room).

Tengu is pretty straignt forward, subsystem tat gives HAM range (and a rig or 2 for missile speed/ range), 6 launchers, full rack of ballistics in low slots, tank/ prop mod- whatever, it has such kin/ therm base resist you can get away with an invul and a small shield booster (looks funny on killmail). You can go 100mn ab, 10mn or mwd with a long point for some occasional pew... Plug the EM hole or go 100% cap stable epic serpentis tank with everything running, throw in a missile guidance computer for more application/ range....

180 dps tank for a 10/10 thats impressive. So really its speed tanked, because 180 dps tank might cover a level 4 mission and wont cover even a haven. Speed tank is ok as long as there are no neuts, webs and you can run around and let stuff chase you while you kill it.

Oh and Supertank Snake

I was wrong about the 14k dps tank, its closer to 15k overheated 70%kin/30% therm damage profile still puts out 800 dps for around 1.4 bil 2/3 of that in the ship and rigs. Its about 6800 dps not overheated. Its an excessively heavy tank. But it shows how extremely flexible the snake is.

My normal anom fit

It isnt the most efficient it could be.But i have other ways of making isk that are far more efficient than ratting. The tank will handle most stuff, though i do modify the fit some for certain sites. Its about a 1.8 bil isk fit.
So... welcome to fantasy land.
