I had turned in a mission, and noticed that I forgot to retrieve my tractor unit, what do I need to do to retrieve it?

Get combat probes and probe that thing down :)

A life is best lived, to not step into your grave in a well preserved body. Instead, to slide in side ways, all battered and bruised, screamming, "Holy SH**! What a ride!"

MTUs are actually very easy to scan down. That's why people are advised to leave them in space for the shortest possible time. Pilots looking to gank you will often scan for the MTU rather than the mission ship.

The mission ships and structures are created in space when you accept the mission.
You are given bookmarks to the mission location, so you can warp there.
These bookmarks disappear once the mission is completed, but any bookmarks you create manually will not disappear.

Once you report to the agent that the mission is complete, all structures disappear, but the ship wrecks that you've created by killing the mission ships remain in space for 2 hours. Also your MTU remains in space.

So if you're using an MTU, as soon as you deploy it, right-click it and choose "bookmark this" so you can return to it later.

Otherwise, you can also shoot all the ships in the mission but not loot any, and bookmark one of the wrecks in each pocket, and return to the bookmark after the mission is completed to get the loot. You have 2 hours, plenty of time. You can return in a salvage ship (for example, destroyer with salvagers and the MTU), and the MTU will pull all the wrecks to you so you can easily salvage them.

And you're not leaving that MTU unsupervised, people can destroy your MTU in high-sec without Concord (they go suspect, you can shoot them if you want, but Concord won't come).
